Job summary

JTI in BATANGAS, PH is seeking a Projects & Automation Engineer to lead robustness measures, audits, and maintenance of automation systems across the plant. You will supervise SCADA/PLC/DCS/BMS infrastructure while guiding junior engineers and aligning with global standards.

You will collaborate with Global Engineering, IT and M&P teams to optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with EHS and local regulations. Strong English and project management experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automatic Control and Robotics or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in engineering/automation roles, with project management exposure.
• Strong command of English, clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement robustness measures and guidelines across the factory.
• Conduct regular audits and health checks with thorough documentation.
• Maintain automation systems (SCADA, PLCs, DCS, BMS) and IACS.
• Provide training to junior engineers and share best practices.
• Collaborate with Global Eng, M&P and IT to optimize processes.
• Ensure alignment with global standards and policies.
• Perform tasks assigned by supervisor and ensure EHS compliance.

Projects & Automation Engineer

What This Role Is About

• Lead and implement robustification measures and guidelines throughout the factory, ensuring compliance across all departments.
• Conduct regular audits and health checks while maintaining thorough audit documentation.
• Lead the maintenance of engineering and automation systems, including but not limited to SCADA, PLCs, DCS, BMS, and other Industrial Automation Control Systems (IACS).

What Will You Do

Automation Systems Optimization

• Support the automation team in optimizing currently installed production machinery and automation systems, including Siemens, Beckhoff, KNX, CAN bus controllers, Profibus, and ProfiNet.
• Perform software modifications and debugging, MES system enhancements, and preventive and corrective actions related to the current assignment.

Robustification, Audits, and Compliance

• Lead and implement robustification measures and guidelines throughout the factory, ensuring compliance across all departments.
• Conduct regular audits and health checks while maintaining thorough audit documentation.

Engineering and Automation Systems Maintenance

• Lead the maintenance of engineering and automation systems, including but not limited to SCADA, PLCs, DCS, BMS, and other Industrial Automation Control Systems (IACS).

Training and Cross-Functional Support

• Provide training and support to junior engineers and team members by sharing best practices.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams to ensure open dialogue and strong support, as needed.

Manufacturing Process Optimization

• Collaborate with Global Engineering, Primary and M&P, and IT teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
• Ensure alignment with global counterparts and stay informed about the latest standards and policies.

Other Responsibilities and Compliance

• Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
• Comply with EHS procedures, labor laws, corporate guidance, internal regulations, and work performance instructions.

Who We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, particularly Automatic Control and Robotics, or any related Automation or IT course.
• At least five years of experience in a similar position, with a background in project management.
• Experience in the tobacco industry is an advantage.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English, with clear and assertive communication skills.
