Job Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for the overall monitoring, coordination, and supervision of food truck, trailer, kiosk, and custom fabrication projects from the start of production until final inspection and release to the client. The role ensures that every project is completed according to approved drawings, company quality standards, production schedules, and client requirements.
The Project Engineer serves as the primary coordinator between the Engineering, Production, Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, After-Sales, and Delivery Departments to ensure smooth project execution. This position is also responsible for identifying production issues, implementing corrective actions, monitoring manpower productivity, ensuring proper installation of electrical and mechanical systems, and preparing project progress reports for management.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically competent, and capable of managing multiple projects while maintaining excellent quality and meeting project deadlines.
Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
1. Project Monitoring
- Monitor assigned projects from production start-up until final release.
- Ensure projects are completed according to the approved production schedule.
- Track daily production progress and report project status to management.
- Verify that all activities comply with approved engineering drawings and client specifications.
- Monitor project milestones and identify possible delays before they affect project completion.
2. Production Supervision
- Conduct daily inspections of fabrication, assembly, and installation works.
- Ensure production follows approved procedures and quality standards.
- Coordinate with Production Supervisors regarding daily accomplishments and pending activities.
- Verify manpower allocation and monitor production efficiency.
- Ensure work is completed according to project priorities.
3. Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with Engineering regarding drawing revisions and design changes.
- Interpret engineering drawings and explain technical requirements to production personnel.
- Assist production teams in resolving fabrication and installation concerns.
- Verify dimensions, layouts, and technical specifications before fabrication.
4. Electrical and Mechanical Inspection
- Inspect electrical installation to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Verify proper installation of wiring, lighting, outlets, circuit breakers, and electrical accessories.
- Monitor plumbing installation including water supply, drainage, pumps, and fixtures.
- Inspect mechanical installations including ventilation, exhaust systems, gas lines, and equipment mounting.
- Coordinate with technical teams regarding deficiencies and corrective actions.
5. Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular quality inspections throughout the production process.
- Identify defects and issue corrective action recommendations.
- Ensure all workmanship complies with company quality standards.
- Verify that completed work passes internal quality inspections before endorsement for release.
- Participate in final quality inspections with the Quality Control Team.
6. Material and Equipment Monitoring
- Coordinate with Material Control regarding material availability.
- Ensure production materials arrive according to project schedules.
- Report material shortages that may delay project completion.
- Monitor the proper use of materials to minimize waste.
- Verify installation of specified equipment and accessories.
7. Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare Daily Project Monitoring Reports.
- Prepare Weekly Project Progress Reports.
- Maintain project documentation and accomplishment records.
- Submit project updates to management.
- Record production delays, issues, and corrective actions taken.
8. Coordination with Other Departments
- Coordinate with Sales regarding customer requirements.
- Coordinate with Purchasing regarding procurement schedules.
- Coordinate with Material Control regarding inventory requirements.
- Coordinate with Delivery regarding release schedules.
- Coordinate with After-Sales regarding punch lists before turnover.
9. Safety Compliance
- Ensure production follows company safety policies.
- Conduct safety inspections during project execution.
- Report unsafe work practices immediately.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
10. Final Inspection and Unit Release
- Conduct pre-delivery inspection of completed units.
- Verify all punch list items are completed.
- Ensure units meet client specifications before release.
- Assist during client inspections and turnover.
- Prepare completion reports and project close-out documentation.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Preferred), Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related Engineering field.
Experience
• Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in project engineering, production monitoring, fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or related industries is preferred.
• Experience in food truck, trailer, automotive, kiosk, modular building, or custom fabrication projects is a strong advantage.
• Fresh graduates with excellent academic performance and a strong willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Technical Knowledge
• Knowledge of electrical systems and installations.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings, and technical layouts.
• Familiarity with fabrication processes including welding, sheet metal works, and assembly.
• Understanding of production planning and scheduling.
• Knowledge of quality control and inspection procedures.
• Basic understanding of project management principles.
