Job summary

Vicente T. Lao Construction in Davao City is seeking a Project Engineer to join our engineering team. This full-time role supports planning, execution, and completion of civil and structural projects across Luzon, Visayas & Mindanao, ensuring on-time delivery and quality.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil/Structural engineering degree, PE licensure is desirable, with 2–3 years of relevant experience and proficiency in CAD and project management tools. On-site work with site travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• PE licensure or eligibility is desirable.
• 2–3 years of civil/structural engineering experience, preferably in construction project management.
• Proficiency in project management software and CAD applications is required.
• Knowledge of Philippine building codes and safety regulations is essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review drawings, specs, and documents per standards and client needs.
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess conditions and verify design compliance.
• Develop detailed schedules, resource plans, and cost estimates for projects.
• Monitor on-site progress and quality, ensuring safety and contractual compliance.
• Coordinate with teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep projects on track.
• Prepare progress reports, variation orders, and as-built documentation.
• Perform structural calculations and analyze load and material specs.
• Assist in resolving technical issues during construction.

About the role

Vicente T. Lao Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Davao City, Davao del Sur or any project sites in Luzon, Visayas & Mindanao. As a Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in the planning, execution, and completion of civil and structural engineering projects. You will work collaboratively with project managers, architects, and construction teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is fundamental to our commitment to delivering exceptional construction solutions and infrastructure development.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation in accordance with engineering standards and client requirements
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess project conditions, identify potential challenges, and ensure compliance with design specifications
• Develop detailed project schedules, resource plans, and cost estimates to support effective project planning and execution
• Monitor construction progress and quality of work on site, ensuring adherence to safety standards, environmental regulations, and contractual obligations
• Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate smooth project operations and resolve site-related issues
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive project reports, including progress reports, variation orders, and as-built documentation
• Perform calculations and analysis for structural design, load assessments, and material specifications
• Assist in the investigation and resolution of technical problems that arise during construction
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders to communicate project status, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction with deliverables
• Support the preparation of tender documents, proposals, and project bids

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure is highly desirable
• Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in civil or structural engineering, preferably in construction project management
• Proficiency in project management software, CAD applications (AutoCAD), and Microsoft Office suite
• Strong knowledge of building codes, construction standards, and safety regulations applicable in the Philippines
• Excellent technical drawing interpretation and ability to translate designs into practical construction solutions
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure to meet project deadlines
• Willingness to work on-site and travel to project locations as required
• Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) or other advanced engineering software is advantageous
