Project Architects are the backbone of production at R+B. This role is focused on the technical development and production of accurate, thorough, and well-coordinated drawings, documents, and specifications, with specific attention to the technical design of each project. This is a full-time, offshore, production- and technical-support position based in the Philippines, supporting R+B’s studios in Denver and Aspen, Colorado. Given the significant time difference, this is an independent, self-directed role: rather than real-time supervision, the team connects briefly at the start or end of the workday to align priorities and review progress.
Our common ‘cultural thread’ is a collaborative process that tests conventional thinking. Standing on the architectural integrity of our projects, our people and our passion, we are committed to impacting place through excellence of design.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and technical development of projects under the direction of R+B project leads, translating design intent into accurate, coordinated drawings and documentation
- Assist in developing and maintaining the project Work Plan, including documentation, scheduling, and progress tracking for project lead/team
- Uphold expected standards and support the quality control plan on every project
- Assist with project start-up and close-out tasks
- Develop and refine design options as directed, supporting the project team through production and technical detailing
- Coordinate remotely with consultants, trades, vendors, and fabricators on technical and drawing-coordination questions to help ensure a fully coordinated, buildable design
- Preparation of and ultimate success of the set of drawings and specifications using R+B standards (accurate, thorough, efficient, aesthetically pleasing graphics)
- Technical accuracy, completeness and constructability of the Construction Documents at all stages of development
- Appropriate application and incorporation of building, zoning, energy, accessibility, and other relevant codes to all projects
- Appropriate application and incorporation of recent and relevant building science and materials to all projects
- Support interior design and other multi-disciplinary responsibilities and tasks as required
- Support coordination with consultants, building agencies, and contractors on technical and documentation matters
Qualifications
- 5–15+ years of experience as a full-service Project Architect, with hands-on experience across design, technical development, and production work across all phases of a project
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or related degree from an accredited program
- Advanced/expert-level proficiency in Revit
- Experience in interior design, with the ability to carry a cohesive design vision from architecture through to interiors
- Experience supporting high-end custom residential projects of high complexity, including multiple projects simultaneously
- A creative, solution-oriented thinker; someone who solves problems and elevates the design, not just someone who completes tasks
- Balances strong design instincts with an equally strong understanding of constructability and how buildings actually go together
- Experience with wood-framed construction
- Experience designing for cold-weather climates, including snow loads, moisture management, and thermal performance
- Brings a modern design perspective, with an affinity for natural materials
- Skilled in high-end detailing, particularly custom millwork, doors, and windows
- Experience with building envelope design
- Strong spatial thinker, able to visualize and resolve complex three-dimensional design and construction conditions
- Self-directed and comfortable working independently across a significant time zone difference, with only brief check-ins with the U.S. team at the start and end of the workday
- Exercises independent judgment in the evaluation of and response to typical and conventional project management problems, and seeks and receives guidance on unusual or complex situations
- Receives guidance on scope, schedule, technical, and production topics from more experienced staff
- Demonstrates sound competence in conventional architectural principles and practices regarding both design and technical issues
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, 3D modeling, rendering, and Microsoft Office
- Working experience with Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, Enscape, and/or the broader Adobe Creative Suite is a plus, but not required
