Job summary

Austal in the Philippines is seeking a Production Planner/Coordinator to oversee planned production activities in shipbuilding and related fabrication environments. You will ensure inputs are available, monitor progress, and drive corrective actions to maintain schedules.

The role requires hands-on experience in mechanical works, piping, and adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards. A vocational background and knowledge of production sequencing are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 3-year vocational/ trade course completed in mechanical, HVAC, piping.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical works, shipbuilding, construction, or related industry.
• Understanding of piping installation, work sequencing, and resource coordination.
• Knowledge of production planning and fabrication environment.
• Familiarity with quality standards, Class requirements, and HSE regulations.
• Experience in hydraulic piping.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate all production activities in alignment with the approved Weekly Plan, ensuring inputs (manpower, materials, tools, equipment, facilities, drawings, and information) are available prior to execution.
• Monitor actual progress against plan, identify delays or deviations, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule adherence.
• Ensure proper planning and allocation of manpower to maximize productivity and avoid overstaffing or underutilization.
• Track material usage, wastage, and by-products, and ensure accurate reporting and accountability.
• Identify inefficiencies in resource usage and implement corrective actions to improve cost performance.
• Ensure full compliance with established quality standards, procedures, drawings, and specifications across all production activities.
• Conduct regular checks and coordinate inspections to verify that work meets required standards before progression to the next stage.

• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical works, shipbuilding, construction, or related industry
• Basic understanding of piping installation, work sequencing, and resource coordination in a production environment
• Understanding of basic production planning, work sequencing, and resource coordination in a fabrication environment
• Working knowledge of quality standards, Class requirements, and HSE regulations
• Has demonstrated experience in hydraulic piping

Desirable

• Trade certification in mechanical, piping, HVAC, or related field
• Experience in marine piping systems
• Knowledge of piping standards, pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning requirements
• Familiarity with ISO quality, safety, and environmental systems
