Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own executive-level analytical requests end to end: scope ambiguous business questions with senior stakeholders, define the methodology, assumptions, and source of truth, and deliver validated, approval-ready findings within priorities set by the VP of Business Intelligence and the CMO.
  • Design and govern the marketing data model and semantic layer, including club and channel dimension tables, KPI definitions, channel mappings, and calculation standards used across marketing reporting. Serve as the subject matter export on reporting classifications.
  • Own the analysis quality framework for marketing analytics: set the validation and reconciliation standards used across the BI team, provide technical review of marketing-related work produced by consultants and cross-functional partners, and certify the accuracy of externally distributed deliverables.
  • Design campaign measurement methodology, incrementality and holdout test design, and year over year comparability standards, and defend the methodology to executive audiences.
  • Develop and maintain executive-grade Power BI dashboards and semantic models covering lead generation, conversion, retention, campaign performance, and ROI.
  • Design and execute advanced analytics initiatives, including audience segmentation and clustering, survey research analysis, propensity modeling, and forecasting of spend versus performance.
  • Translate findings into concise recommendations and present directly to the CMO, ownership, and senior operators; anticipate follow-up questions and defend every number, assumption, and conclusion presented.
  • Serve as the analytical partner to the CMO organization on emerging initiatives: member research and clustering-based segmentation, referral program measurement, lifecycle and re-engagement campaigns, digital funnel analysis, and defining marketing technology data collection requirements with IT (for example, referral attribution, SMS engagement, and abandoned cart data).
  • Support the migration of marketing analytics to the Databricks lakehouse platform and re-platform existing marketing reporting as the company transitions its analytics infrastructure.
  • Maintain rigorous data governance, accuracy, documentation, and reproducibility in all analyses, dashboards, and data assets.
Technical Skills
  • Expert-level SQL for complex querying, data modeling, and validation across warehouse sources.
  • Expert-level Power BI across the full stack, not DAX alone: dimensional (star schema) design, building semantic models, relationship and storage mode decisions, incremental refresh, row-level security, deployment pipelines, and performance tuning. Candidates must be able to design and build the data model themselves; this role does not have a data science or data engineering team.
  • Expert DAX, including filter context, context transition, and measure design that behaves correctly across report pages and visuals.
  • Working statistical foundation: experiment and test design, significance testing, segmentation and clustering techniques, and regression-based analysis.
  • Python or R for advanced analysis, automation, or modeling; PySpark a plus.
  • Experience with Databricks or a comparable Spark-based lakehouse platform strongly preferred. The company will be migrating its analytics infrastructure to Databricks and this role will be integral in the marketing analytics transition.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Analytics (GA4) and HubSpot, including connecting their data to warehouse reporting and understanding their attribution models and limitations; both are used heavily in this role. Experience with CRM systems, paid media platforms, and marketing automation more broadly.
  • Disciplined use of AI-assisted tools: ability to independently review, validate, and take full accountability for any machine-assisted analysis or code.
Analytical & Strategic Skills
  • Deep marketing measurement expertise: attribution models and their limitations, funnel and conversion dynamics, channel economics across paid media, email, direct mail, and referral programs, and lifecycle metrics including CAC, LTV, ROAS, retention, and churn.
  • Fluent partner to marketing leadership: understands how campaigns are planned, bought, and executed, and frames analysis around marketing decisions (spend allocation, audience targeting, creative and offer testing) rather than data mechanics.
  • Demonstrated ability to take an ambiguous executive question, structure the analysis, and deliver a defensible answer with limited direction required.
  • Strong business judgement: results are plausibility-checked against known business baselines before distribution, and surprising findings are investigated before they are shared.
  • Proven ability to design measurement methodology, not just execute it, and to explain methodological choices to non-technical executives.
  • Track record of building reporting standards and data definitions adopted by others.
  • Maintains analytical standards by ensuring executive deliverables adhere to established methodologies and validation practices.
Professional Skills
  • Executes independently within direction set by BI and Marketing leadership; brings well-formed recommendations and organized questions rather than open-ended asks.
  • Communicates effectively with executive audiences, leads with the answer, states assumptions and limitations, and separates fact from interpretation.
  • High standard of intellectual honesty: represents the state and validation of their own work accurately, and escalates uncertainty rather than papering over it.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, physics, or a comparably rigorous quantitative discipline required; advanced degree a plus.
  • Seven or more years of full-time, post-degree professional experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data engineering. Internships, co-ops, academic projects, and graduate research do not count toward this requirement.
  • At least three of those years owning executive-facing deliverables, and at least three years designing and building production semantic or dimensional data models end to end.
  • At least three years focused specifically on marketing analytics: campaign measurement, attribution, channel performance, and marketing spend optimization, working directly with marketing teams. General BI or finance analytics alone does not satisfy this requirement.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing complex analytical work and establishing reporting standards, data definitions, or quality assurance practices.
  • Expert SQL, Power BI data modeling, and DAX required, demonstrated through a technical work-sample assessment during the interview process that includes building a model from raw tables, not only writing measures.
  • Experience designing tests or measurement methodology (A/B, holdout, matchback, or similar) required.
  • Hands-on Google Analytics (GA4) and HubSpot experience required.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, or a comparable lakehouse platform strongly preferred; ability to build production data pipelines in Python/SQL required.
  • Background in multi-unit services, fitness, or consumer subscription industries is helpful but not required.
