Job summary

First Gen Corporation, the country’s pioneer in clean, green, and renewable energy, seeks a Power Trading Analyst to contribute to price and volume analysis for WESM and the trading portfolio. You will monitor market outcomes and help maximize revenues while controlling costs.

You will perform Day-Ahead forecasts, analyze grid conditions, and compile industry data to support strategic energy decisions across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or Economics.
• Preferably 1 year in Wholesale Electricity Spot Market Operations.

Responsibilities

• Submits offer price and volume to WESM.
• Monitors WESM outcomes and declares bilateral contract volumes to WESM to maximize revenues and minimize costs.
• Analyzes the power grid situation to ensure that FGen bid submissions are sound and revenue-maximizing.
• Assesses existing plants to determine supply adequacy and monitors competing facilities.
• Analyzes load behavior to guide First Gen's supply strategy.
• Performs Day-Ahead Forecasts and ensures optimal dispatch of the trading portfolio.
• Compiles power industry databases and prepares regular industry reports, especially on WESM.

Job Responsibilities

• Submits offer price and volume to WESM
• Monitors WESM outcomes Declares bilateral contract volumes of FGen to WESM to ensure maximum revenues and minimal costs
• Analyzes the power grid situation critical in ensuring that FGen bid submissions are sound, with the end goal of maximizing revenues
• Analyzes the existing plants operating in the system to determine the adequacy of supply in the system and to monitor competing generation facilities
• Analyzes the behavior of loads to determine First Gen Corporation's supply strategy
• Perform Day-Ahead Forecasts and ensure optimal dispatch of the trading portfolio
• Compile power industry databases from various sources. Prepares regular reports on the industry development, particularly on the WESM.

Minimum Qualifications

The power trading analyst is responsible for specific analysis concerning prices (e.g., competition, relative positioning, profitability) for an offer, a customer segment, and/or an area. Analyzes special price requests as necessary.

• Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following courses: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial (Management) Engineering, Economics.
• Preferably with one (1) year of work experience in Wholesale Electricity Spot Market Operations
