We are seeking an energetic, empathetic, and highly organized Personal Injury Paralegal with dedicated Australian personal injury law experience to join our busy Injury Compensation team.
In this role, you will work directly alongside Australian solicitors to support clients through all stages of personal injury claims across Australian jurisdictions. You will manage personal injury files involving WorkCover/Workplace Injuries, Motor Vehicle Accidents (CTP), Public Liability, and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) claims under relevant state and territory legislation.
File Management & Administration: Open, maintain, and manage personal injury files from initial inquiry through to pre-court conferences, settlement, or litigation in Australian courts and tribunals.
Client Contact & Liaison: Serve as a compassionate first point of contact for Australian clients; conduct initial intake interviews, gather claim details, and provide regular, clear updates on case progress.
Australian Legal Document Preparation: Draft legal correspondence, state-specific Notice of Claim forms (e.g., CTP / WorkCover claim forms), court pleadings, statutory declarations, and briefs to Australian counsel and medical experts under solicitor supervision.
Evidence & Medical Records Gathering: Request, track, and collate Australian medical records, Medicare/PBS histories, clinical notes, police report statements, tax/ATO records, and expert reports.
Statutory Timelines & Diary Systems: Maintain strict file diary systems to ensure 100% compliance with Australian statutory limitation periods, court rules, and strict legislative response deadlines.
Settlement & Billing Support: Prepare draft statements of loss (including economic loss, out-of-pocket expenses, and statutory refunds), assist with settlement documentation, and prepare files for billing/costing.
Australian Experience: 1–3+ years of direct Australian paralegal/legal assistant experience specializing in Personal Injury / Injury Compensation law.
Legislative Knowledge: Familiarity with Australian personal injury frameworks, procedures, and relevant state legislation (e.g., Civil Liability Acts, Workers' Compensation, CTP schemes, and TPD claim processes).
Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Australian legal practice management software (e.g., LEAP, Smokeball, FilePro, or Lawims) and court filing systems.
Organization & Detail: Exceptional file management skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to handle high-volume caseloads under pressure.
Communication: Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills, with a professional, empathetic approach when speaking with injured clients and external agencies.
