Job summary

Dayforce is a global HCM company seeking a Payroll Specialist III to deliver accurate, compliant payroll services to Dayforce’s customers across multiple jurisdictions. You will manage end-to-end payroll processes, ensure tax, benefits, and garnishments are correctly handled, and support audits and reporting.

The role emphasizes client collaboration, training, and continuous improvement, with opportunities to lead process enhancements, update SOPs, and participate in cross‑functional projects

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of U.S. payroll experience in a multi-client, high-volume environment.
  • Experience processing payroll for 2,000+ employees across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of quality control and audit standards in payroll operations.
  • Working knowledge of Dayforce HCM or similar cloud payroll systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general PC literacy.
  • Willingness to support clients across time zones (8 AM – 8 PM EST).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate end-to-end payroll processing for assigned clients, including changes, tax forms, payments, and reporting.
  • Perform quality control and audits to maintain a low error rate.
  • Proactively manage quarterly and year-end audits, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.
  • Process payroll adjustments, garnishments, and benefit deductions per policy.
  • For Canada-specific responsibilities: handle monthly tax remittances reconciliations and ROEs as needed.
  • Provide exceptional payroll support in line with contracts and SLAs.
  • Manage cases in the case management system with precise documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve payroll issues and answer employee inquiries.
  • Attend and lead client meetings from a payroll perspective.
  • Support Client Relationship Executives with payroll-related requests.
  • Drive process improvements and training sessions for peers and clients.
  • Create, update, and maintain SOPs with quarterly reviews.
  • Execute minor configuration updates per Change Control processes.
  • Build relationships with cross-functional partners and vendors.

About the Opportunity

Deliver accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll services to Dayforce’s customers, ensuring all aspects of the payroll cycle — including tax, benefits, and garnishments — are processed, reconciled, audited, and transmitted with precision and timeliness. The Payroll Specialist III will act as a trusted partner to clients, providing subject matter expertise, training, and support while driving continuous process improvements and service excellence.

What You’ll Get to Do
  • Payroll Processing and Compliance
    • Ensure accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing for assigned clients, including all payroll-impacting changes, tax forms, payments, and reporting.
    • Conduct quality control and audits to maintain a low error/defect rate.
    • Proactively manage quarterly and year-end audits, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.
    • Perform payroll adjustments, garnishments, and benefit deductions in compliance with legislative and company policies.
    • For Canada-specific responsibilities: perform monthly reconciliations of tax remittances and validate ROEs as needed.
  • Client Support and Issue Resolution
    • Provide exceptional payroll support services in alignment with client contracts, SLAs, and regulatory obligations.
    • Manage client cases within the case management system, ensuring complete, accurate, and timely documentation.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve payroll issues and respond to employee inquiries promptly.
    • Attend and lead client meetings, supporting discussions from a payroll perspective.
    • Support Client Relationship Executives and internal partners with payroll-related requests.
  • Continuous Improvement and Leadership
    • Drive customer satisfaction through quality service delivery and proactive process improvements.
    • Lead or participate in training sessions for peers and clients as needed.
    • Create, update, and maintain standard operating procedures, ensuring quarterly reviews are completed.
    • Execute minor configuration updates and adhere to the established Change Control process.
  • Collaboration and Partnership
    • Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners and external vendors.
    • Communicate effectively and professionally in all interactions, adapting communication style to audience needs.
    • Contribute to a culture of learning, ownership, and teamwork within the Payroll Services organization.
Skills and Experience We Value
  • Minimum 3 years of U.S. payroll experience (multi-client, high-volume environment preferred).
  • Experience processing payroll for 2,000+ employees across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of quality control and audit standards in payroll operations.
  • Working knowledge of Dayforce HCM or similar cloud payroll systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general PC literacy.
  • Multinational payroll experience (U.S. and Canada) is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills—verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Flexibility to support clients across time zones (hours of operation between 8 AM – 8 PM EST, with potential weekend or holiday coverage).
  • PCP certification (or willingness to obtain within 18 months).
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Experience in an outsourced or managed payroll environment is an asset.
