Job summary

optiBPO in Clark, Philippines, is seeking a Packaging Technologist to lead the development, sourcing and cost-effective packaging for a furniture range, while ensuring sustainability and compliance. You will collaborate with NPD, Sustaining Engineering, Marketing and Purchasing to deliver specifications, costings and trials.

The role requires strong communication, testing, and supplier negotiation skills, and will operate in a UK shift from the Clark office.

Qualifications

• Formal education in Packaging Engineering or Packaging Technology.
• Previous packaging development experience.
• Knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes and industry trends.
• Experience with Autodesk Revit or similar software to support packaging artwork.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop cost-efficient packaging solutions across product ranges in response to project briefs.
• Ensure packaging materials meet set requirements and specifications.
• Develop and champion our sustainable packaging strategy.
• Research new packaging materials and produce samples to test different materials and designs.
• Liaise with marketing, purchasing and production teams as required.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality and practicality.
• Run trials to check packaging for suitability and testing for performance under various conditions.
• Control production and quality standards, including reporting packaging that doesn’t meet these standards.
• Evaluate, select and negotiate with suppliers.
• Negotiate packaging options with suppliers to achieve economies of scale.
• Support the packaging artwork development process.
• Analyze data and write reports as required.
• Keep up to date with technological innovations and packaging materials trends.
• Support wider teams to ensure packaging complies with relevant regulations, standards and compliance requirements.
