Responsibilities
- Assists in developing modules for medical coding and billing training (ICD 10 CM, CPT, E/M coding, Business of Medicine, Edit Resolution, and Revenue Cycle Management).
- Develops curriculum and training syllabus related to coding and billing training programs including periodic updates, policy updates, peripherals of RCM, and Med-Metrix Learning Academy.
- Maintains knowledge of ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Updates existing training modules and develops materials for inpatient medical coding exercises, assessments, and qualifying examinations.
- Consolidates coder scores from quizzes, exams and assessments and presents consolidated data during weekly meetings.
- Maintains staff certifications by providing continuing education units; provides onboarding and refresher training for coders.
- Disseminates changes and updates in guidelines and rules; collaborates with workgroups to resolve issues affecting customers.
- Ensures compliance with all Med-Metrix policies and procedures; participates in monthly calibration training and creates assessments for calibration learnings.
- Consolidates calibration scores and presents data to operations; supports QA Supervisor and QATM with account launches; provides feedback for TNA, RCA, and QA educational notes.
- Audits QA staff to monitor coding and auditing accuracy.
Qualifications
- Graduate of any Medical or Allied Medical course or equivalent work experience.
- CPC certification from AAPC or CCS certification from AHIMA.
- Proficient with Revenue Cycle Management, E/M and Procedure Coding.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and adapt to changing responsibilities, schedules, procedures, and workloads.
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Willingness to work extended hours; self-starter who can work independently or in a team.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and stay calm under pressure.
- Understanding and strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.
