Job summary

TP ICAP in the Philippines seeks an experienced DBA to support a diverse database environment across Oracle, SQL Server, and middleware. The role involves 24/7 global coverage from Manila with on-site and remote work, adhering to agile practices.

We expect 7+ years of hands-on DBA experience, expertise in Oracle 23c/19c, and strong knowledge of Oracle Middleware, E-Business Suite, RAC, and AlwaysOn. Cloud migrations to AWS/Azure are a plus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on DBA experience, preferably in Financial Services.
• Proven Oracle database expertise including 23c/19c.
• Strong Oracle Middleware, WebLogic 12c, and E-Business Suite knowledge.
• Experience with Oracle RAC and SQL Server AlwaysOn.
• Performance tuning, replication, HA, DR, and analytics delivery.
• Proficient with OEM, Spotlight, Grafana monitoring tools.
• Automation with Unix shell, PowerShell, and Ansible.
• Cloud migration experience to AWS/Azure.
• Comfortable in fast-paced, agile environments and managing outages.
• APAC/EMEA/AMERS time-zone coverage and ITIL familiarity.
• Red Hat Linux and Windows Server administration.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a DBA with extensive experience in both Oracle and SQL Server. As part of the Global DBA Team, they will support a diverse range of database platforms, including but not limited to Oracle, SQL Server, Oracle Middleware, Oracle E-Business Suite, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based databases. This role involves delivering infrastructure services and operational support for a growing global organization. Experience working in a financial institution or a similar environment would be highly desirable.

Role Responsibilities

• Participate as part of a global database support team, providing comprehensive shift coverage to support TPICAP’s database environment worldwide, including a mix of on-site and remote work to ensure 24/7 coverage, adhere to agile working policies.


• Represent the Global DBA team during major incident calls, taking ownership of problem resolution and ensuring timely completion of related tasks.


• Deliver operational support for database issues arising from incidents or changes.


• Provide solutions and root cause analysis for system performance issues and failures.


• Collaborate on projects, working closely with project teams to ensure smooth transitions of new databases and initiatives into the Production environment.


• Work closely with the functional manager and other team members to ensure cohesive operations.


• Review and recommend improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the database infrastructure.


• Establish and maintain best practices, processes, and procedures to support business operations.


• Perform monitoring, testing, and capacity planning for databases.


• Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including disaster recovery (DR) procedures.


• Drive innovation by continually seeking improvements to infrastructure for a faster and more efficient environment.


• Support broader IT initiatives, including business continuity and security efforts.


• Participate in the on-call rotation

Experience / Competences

Essential

• Experienced DBA with a minimum of 7 years of hands‑on experience, preferably in the Financial Services sector.


• Proven expertise in managing Oracle databases, including versions 23ai and 19c.


• Strong understanding of Oracle Middleware, WebLogic 12c, and Oracle E-Business Suite.


• Strong knowledge of database clustering technologies, such as Oracle RAC and SQL Server AlwaysOn.


• Extensive hands‑on experience in performance tuning, data replication, high availability, disaster recovery, and delivering analytics and reporting solutions.


• Proficiency with enterprise monitoring tools such as Oracle OEM, Spotlight, and Grafana.


• Skilled in creating automation solutions using Unix shell scripting, Windows PowerShell, and Ansible.


• Experience in migrating databases to cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure.


• Comfortable working in fast‑paced, agile, and high‑pressure environments. Capable of managing outages and major incidents effectively.


• Able to work on rotational working shifts covering APAC, EMEA and AMERS time zones.


• Familiar with ITIL standards.


• Solid working knowledge of Red Hat Linux and Windows server environments.

Desired

• Demonstrated success in managing MS SQL databases, including SQL Server 2022 and 2019.


• Hands‑on knowledge of MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL databases is a plus.


• Solid grasp of cloud technologies and DevOps principles.


• ITIL certification is desired.


• Professional certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified, or AWS Solutions Architect are preferred.
