Job summary

TP ICAP is seeking a senior software engineer in the Manila area to drive the re-platforming of the Risk application and build strategic, cloud-hosted data pipelines.

The candidate will lead best-practice engineering within an agile Delivery team, partnering with Risk and Technology colleagues in London to deliver on a multi-year Transformation roadmap.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of strong Python development experience building production-grade services and data pipelines.
• Experience designing and delivering data pipelines with ingestion, transformation, enrichment and orchestration across multiple data sources.
• Experience building serverless, event-driven solutions using AWS Lambda or Azure Functions, including Step Functions/state machines.

Role Overview:

The focus of this role will be the development of new capabilities and re-platforming of the Risk application.

The successful candidate will be a seasoned engineer with strong Python and data pipeline expertise, tasked with building strategic cloud-hosted, event-driven data and calculation pipelines as part of the transformation programme to enable new and enhance existing capabilities in the Risk Management space. Serverless compute (AWS Lambda or equivalent) and robust data engineering are central to the platform.

This is a senior level developer role to lead best practice within a newly formed agile delivery team and, in collaboration with Risk and Technology colleagues based in London, will ultimately drive engineering deliverables that underpin a multi-year Risk Transformation roadmap.

Role Responsibilities:

• Partner with product owners, business analysts, and risk stakeholders to translate functional and non-functional requirements into well-architected, AI-assisted software solutions.




• Design, build and operate scalable data pipelines - ingestion, transformation, enrichment and orchestration of data from multiple heterogeneous sources (real-time event streams and batch feeds).




• Develop cloud-native, event-driven services using serverless compute (AWS Lambda / Azure Functions) and orchestration (Step Functions / state machines), replacing legacy monolithic applications.




• Write production-quality Python code (and .NET where appropriate) using AI coding agents such as Kiro, Claude Code and Amazon Q to accelerate development velocity while maintaining engineering rigour.




• Implement AI-augmented SDLC workflows - leveraging agentic coding tools for code generation, test creation, documentation, and code review acceleration.




• Develop comprehensive automated test suites (unit, integration, contract) using both traditional TDD practices and AI-assisted test generation.




• Design data models, API contracts, and integration patterns for distributed systems consuming real-time event streams (Solace, Kafka) and batch data feeds.




• Establish and refine CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment automation to support continuous delivery with high confidence.




• Produce and maintain living technical documentation - architecture decision records, runbooks, and API specifications - using AI tooling to keep documentation current.




• Mentor junior engineers in AI-assisted development practices, prompt engineering for code generation, and effective human-AI collaboration patterns.




• Perform performance profiling, application tuning, and capacity planning for latency-sensitive risk calculation workloads.




• Contribute to and champion TP ICAP engineering standards, AI governance guardrails, and coding best practices across the Risk Technology function.

Required Experience / Competences

• Strong development background (7+ years) with deep, hands-on Python experience - building production-grade services, data engineering code and risk calculation workloads.




• Proven experience designing and delivering data pipelines - ingestion, transformation, enrichment and orchestration across multiple data sources.




• Proven experience building serverless, event-driven solutions using AWS Lambda (or Azure Functions), including orchestration via Step Functions / state machines, retry and failure handling.




• Experience with cloud platforms - AWS or Azure (either acceptable) - including compute, storage, managed databases, messaging/eventing and monitoring services (e.g. S3, RDS, DynamoDB, EventBridge, Glue, CloudWatch, or Azure equivalents).




• Strong understanding of event-driven architectures, message brokers (Solace, Kafka/MSK, SQS), and asynchronous processing patterns.




• Proficient with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) - schema design, query optimisation, and data modelling.




• Solid grasp of software design fundamentals - Object-Oriented Design, SOLID principles, and distributed systems patterns (CQRS, saga, circuit breaker).




• Deep experience with Git-based workflows, trunk-based development, and CI/CD automation (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent).




• Proven ability to write clean, testable, well-documented code for large-scale production systems with rapid release cadence.




• Experience developing cloud-based solutions for large-scale applications in a fast-changing environment with rapid release cycles.




• Working knowledge of C# / .NET is useful for maintaining and integrating with existing components, but is not the primary focus of the role.




• Self-starter with ability to work independently to achieve results.




• Able to work well under pressure, flexible, positive and focused during times of change.

AI-Enabled Development (required)

• Hands-on experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, Kiro, or equivalent) as a daily engineering tool - not just experimentation.




• Understanding of prompt engineering techniques for code generation, refactoring, and test creation.




• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and alignment with architectural standards.




• Experience or strong aptitude for integrating AI agents into the SDLC lifecycle - from requirements analysis through to automated testing and documentation.

Desirable Experience / Competences

• Experience building and tuning high-throughput ETL / data-processing pipelines.




• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, Terraform, or equivalent).




• Experience of containerisation technologies (Docker, ECS/EKS, AKS).




• Experience of refactoring monolithic applications to microservices.




• Exposure to C#/.NET (6/7/8) and ASP.NET Core for working with existing services.




• Knowledge of React or Angular UI frameworks and TypeScript/JavaScript.




• Familiarity with XML/BML/fpML and financial messaging formats.




• Experience working in risk or settlement systems and/or a trading organisation, with an understanding of financial instruments.




• Experience of data modelling.
