Job summary

Care Center Clinic in the Philippines seeks an Optical Assistant to support pre-testing, diagnostics, and patient intake. You will assist the optometrist, guide frame and lens selections, and help with lens coatings, PD measurements, and basic repairs.

You will handle contact lens guidance under supervision, manage appointments, process basic claims, maintain equipment, and keep patient records organized in a clean, compliant clinic environment.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Testing & Diagnostics: Perform preliminary clinical eye tests (such as non-contact tonometry, autorefraction, visual acuity screening, and retinal imaging/fundus photography) before the patient sees the optometrist.
• Patient Intake & Prep: Greet arriving patients, record initial medical and vision histories, and prepare exam rooms with sanitized equipment.
• Optical Sales & Dispensing: Help patients select eyeglass frames, measure pupillary distance (PD) and segment heights, explain lens coatings (anti-reflective, UV, progressive), and adjust or repair spectacles.
• Contact Lens Assistance: Instruct first-time wearers on how to properly insert, remove, clean, and store contact lenses under the optometrist's guidance.
• Administrative & Inventory Support: Schedule appointments, process insurance or HMO claims, manage patient records, and track optical frame/lens inventory levels.
• Instrument Maintenance: Calibrate, clean, and maintain diagnostic ophthalmic tools in compliance with health and hygiene protocols.
