Overview
The Laboratory Technician (Optician) supports the Optometrist in creating and fabricating prescription eyewear. This role is responsible for interpreting prescription orders, cutting and shaping lenses to fit frames, assembling and adjusting eyewear, and performing quality checks to ensure accuracy and high-quality output that meets patient needs.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain optical lab equipment, such as lens grinders, edgers, and polishers.
- Assemble eyeglasses, including mounting lenses and adjusting frames for proper fit.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Maintain organized and clean workspaces and follow safety protocols.
- Keep accurate records of orders, inventory, and production processes.
- Provide customer support and assist the sales team when needed.
- Make precise adjustments to frames to ensure comfort, style, and accuracy.
Qualifications
- At least a Senior High School graduate (old or new curriculum).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role in an optical lab setting.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for handling optical components.
- Knowledge of optical measurement tools, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Good communication skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing to work on shifting schedules, weekends, and holidays as needed.
