Job summary

Energy Development Corporation is seeking a Forest Protection Officer to provide regulatory and community liaison support for forestry and social permits, coordinating with DENR, LGUs, NGOs and local communities.

You will help implement compliance planting programs, maintain data and reports, and assist in ensuring project permits and social agreements support safe, lawful and socially responsible operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare reports on permits, survival rates, and compliance data.

Job Overview

The Forest Protection Officer provides technical expertise in dealing with regulatory agencies (i.e. Department of Environment and Natural Resources), local government units, non-government organizations and community organizations to establish institutional arrangements and partnerships to maintain harmonious relations in facilitating the acquisition of forestry and social permits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Implementation – Provides technical expertise in dealing with regulatory agencies, local government units, NGOs and community organizations to establish institutional arrangements and partnerships for the acquisition of forestry and social permits. Implements compliance planting as part of the Tree Cutting Compliance requirements to avoid Notice of Violation and negative social impacts, while enhancing positive impacts and programs. Conducts Information, Education and Communication to communities and other stakeholders in support of the permitting process. Executes stakeholder management strategies to ensure effective implementation of local needs programs and unhampered operations of the Company.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation – Gathers and processes monitoring and evaluation data and proposes recommendations to continuously improve the permitting process and compliance planting obligations.
  • Data Management – Prepares reports on the permitting process for internal learning and knowledge data, and compliance planting records in terms of survival rate, protection status and other plantation data for reportorial requirements. Facilitates encoding and updating of DOP/Growth Projects’ Forestry and Social Permits and Compliences to CRD Information Systems.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Ensures timely acquisition of forestry and social permits and compliance with agreed conditions to maintain business continuity. Creates enabling conditions to facilitate acquisition of endorsements or permits to ensure legal compliance and address social impacts of the project.
  • Management of Resources – Prepares details of capital and operating expenditure (CAPEX/OPEX) proposals for DOP/Growth Projects related permitting and compliance requirements.

Through its indirect wholly owned subsidiary Green Core Geothermal, Inc., the Company operates the 192.5MW Palinpinon and 112.5MW Tongonan geothermal power plants. Bacman Geothermal, Inc., another indirect wholly owned subsidiary of EDC, operates the 130MW Bacman geothermal power plant.
