A DAY IN THE LIFE ...
The Ocean Allocation Strategy Expert leads and oversees ocean shipment processes and execution to ensure the smooth operation of Nestlé ocean deliveries.
- Lead and oversee volume submission activities and monitor allocation variations against forecasts to meet Nestlé Markets' requirements
- Strategically manage the utilization of Shipment Management Systems to enhance operational visibility and strengthen collaboration among customers, suppliers, and logistics stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Markets, Ocean Carriers, and Global Logistics Procurement, proactively resolving issues and driving performance improvements to achieve and exceed service level expectations.
- Lead the management of allocation submissions, ensuring shipping capacity requests are accurately processed and prioritized according to business requirements.
- Monitor allocation compliance to ensure shipments are executed as planned and in line with agreed service levels.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for logistics teams, carriers, and internal stakeholders regarding allocation submissions and compliance status.
- Consolidate volume requirements from all markets for the annual tender process and perform health checks using actual shipment volumes and specifications from Ocean platforms.
- Review significant volume variations with Markets and provide revised volume projections for annual tenders in alignment with Global Logistics Procurement.
- Coordinate with OHUB and Global Logistics Procurement regarding volume requirements, allocations, and annual tender activities.
- Communicate allocated volumes and awarded carriers for yearly contracts and share updated transit times and contract information with relevant stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of new awarded lanes and additional volume requests following tender announcements.
- Conduct regular allocation reviews with nominated carriers and ensure volume visibility to carriers 4 to 6 weeks prior to ETD.
- Communicate contractual and operational changes, including bunker adjustments and carrier-related updates, to Markets and Shipping Lines.
- Perform operational health checks and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and supply chain projects.
ARE YOU A FIT?
- University degree, preferably in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, shipping lines, or import/export operations
- Strong experience in ocean freight and physical logistics operations
- Experience working with logistics providers and external partners
- Customer service experience with strong stakeholder management skills
- Experience in supply chain project management
- Advanced English communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools, including Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and global environment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across multicultural teams
- Experience in carrier management, allocation planning, and tender management processes
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on operational excellence and service delivery
