Job summary

Axos Bank seeks an experienced Manager to oversee Observability & Performance Engineering. You will lead the strategy, implementation, and ongoing optimization of enterprise observability across applications, networks, and infrastructure.

This hands‑on technical leader collaborates with SRE, NOC, Infrastructure, and Security teams to improve MTTD/MTTR and support highly available platforms. The role also supervises Release Management and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Observability Strategy & Leadership: Define and evolve the enterprise observability strategy across application performance, network experience, and log/metric analytics.
• Platform Ownership & Engineering: Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of Cisco AppDynamics for application performance monitoring and deep diagnostics.
• Standardize usage: Define standards and operating models for AppDynamics, ThousandEyes, and Splunk across teams.
• Analytics & KPI mapping: Translate business and customer objectives into measurable observability KPIs and dashboards.
• Escalation leadership: Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex performance and availability issues.
• Full-stack integration: Ensure tight integration between AppDynamics, ThousandEyes, and Splunk for correlation and rapid root cause analysis.
• Automation & tuning: Drive automation, alert tuning, and noise reduction to improve signal quality and efficiency.
• Monitoring breadth: Oversee network path visibility, SaaS monitoring, endpoint experience, and external dependency monitoring.
• Centralized logging: Leverage Splunk for logging, metrics, alerting, and cross‑application correlation.
• Incident management: Partner with SRE, NOC, and Incident Management to improve detection, triage, and post‑incident analysis.
• Runbooks & dashboards: Establish runbooks and workflows for proactive detection of performance and availability risks.
• Root cause analyses: Lead RCA efforts for major incidents and implement actionable remediation plans.
