Good Neighbors International Phils. Branch Inc. seeks a Microfinance Officer to organize community-based financial groups, facilitate inclusive microcredit, and strengthen financial capacity among women, youth, and microentrepreneurs. The role collaborates with GNIP’s programs to promote sustainable livelihoods.
The officer will train borrowers, support cooperative development, and monitor loan portfolios while coordinating with local partners to advance financial inclusion goals.
Position Summary:
The Microfinance Officer plays a key role in implementing GNSDMI’s mission to promote community economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods. The position is responsible for organizing and supporting community-based financial groups, facilitating inclusive access to microcredit, and strengthening the financial capacity of women, youth, and microentrepreneurs through training, loans, and cooperative development in collaboration with Good Neighbors International Philippines (GNIP).
1. Organize and strengthen community-based financial groups such as Savings and Credit Groups (SCGs), Income Generation Groups (IGGs), and local cooperatives within GNIP’s Community Development Projects (CDPs).
2. Conduct regular group meetings and development sessions to promote responsible financial practices, mutual accountability, and group solidarity.
3. Monitor group performance, savings behavior, and repayment trends to ensure sustainability.
4. Conduct borrower profiling, credit investigation, and validation for individual loan applicants, SCGs, IGGs, and cooperatives.
5. Assist loan applicants in preparing required documentation, including business proposals, household income and expense sheets, and feasibility studies. 6. Facilitate the signing of loan agreements and the disbursement of loans, ensuring all terms are clearly understood and documented.
7. Ensure timely collection of loan repayments as per agreed terms, and implement follow up measures as needed.
8. Submit accurate and timely reports including:
o Monthly collection reports
o IG Monthly Operational Reports (IG MOR)
o Loan repayment (LR) summaries
o Program and collection updates via Web Program system
9. Consolidate and review all loan-related documents to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
10. Lead or support the implementation of livelihood, cooperative, and microenterprise development projects under GNIP’s social economy framework.
11. Provide capacity-building sessions on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and basic business planning to borrowers and community members.
12. Stay informed about local market conditions and business opportunities and share insights to enhance program effectiveness.
13. Build and maintain partnerships with local government units, training institutions, and private sector actors relevant to microfinance, financial inclusion, and small business development.
14. Coordinate closely with Field Managers and CDP teams to align with broader community development efforts.
15. Actively participate in strategic planning and feedback sessions with the MFI Division and Head Office.
16. Represent GNSDMI in community and partner engagements as needed. 17. Perform other duties as assigned by the Microfinance Manager, Economic Development Division Manager, or GNIP Country Director / GNSDMI President.
Bachelor’s Degree in Cooperatives, Cooperative Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing or Microfinance (preferred but not required)
● Relevant experience in the same field is highly desirable.
● Work experience in an International NGO is an advantage.
● Strong discipline in loan processing, collection of payment and savings mobilization.
● Knowledgeable in group formation and community organizing.
● Able to conduct simple training for group strengthening.
● Leadership skills for staff management and community mobilization.
● Basic math and analytical skills to understand the story behind the numbers.
● Basic office management skill.
