Job summary

harlan + holden is seeking an experienced Merchandising Director to lead the commercial performance and growth of our merchandise portfolio. This senior role has end-to-end ownership of the merchandising cycle, including business planning, buying, assortment strategy, pricing, inventory management, and sales performance.

Key responsibilities include owning budgets, guiding buying decisions, managing pricing and promotions, and driving product performance in collaboration with Retail, Marketing

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in merchandising or buying, ideally in fashion/lifestyle/luxury or multi-brand retail.
• Strong understanding of sales, gross margin, inventory, sell-through and open-to-buy.
• Proven experience leading a merchandising or buying team.
• Excellent analytical and financial skills.
• Strong negotiation and supplier-management capabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own the sales, gross margin, inventory and purchase budget.
• Lead buying decisions based on customer demand, historical performance and market opportunities.
• Manage pricing, promotions, markdowns and inventory productivity.
• Monitor sales and stock performance and act on slow sellers, stock-outs and excess inventory.
• Build strong relationships with brands, principals and suppliers, including commercial negotiations.
• Work closely with Retail, Marketing and Visual Merchandising to drive product performance in stores.
• Identify new brands, categories and growth opportunities.
• Lead and develop the merchandising team.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• 8–10+ years of merchandising or buying experience, preferably in fashion, lifestyle, luxury or multi-brand retail.
• Strong commercial understanding of sales, gross margin, inventory, sell-through and open-to-buy.
• Proven experience leading a merchandising or buying team.
• Strong analytical and financial skills.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier-management capability.
• Able to balance product instinct with commercial discipline.
