The Merchandise Planning & Analytics Supervisor is responsible for supporting merchandise planning operations through business analysis, reporting, data management, planning support, system enhancement, and process improvement initiatives within the fashion retail business.
The role provides analytical and operational support to the Merchandise Planning function by ensuring accurate reporting, effective planning coordination, data integrity, and continuous improvement of planning and allocation processes.
This position works closely with Allocation, Buying, Supply Chain, Store Operations, IT, and Finance teams to support inventory productivity, operational efficiency, and informed business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Support merchandise planning activities through sales, inventory, and performance analysis.
- Monitor sell-through, stock cover, inventory aging, and stock productivity metrics.
- Prepare and analyze reports to identify business risks and opportunities.
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support planning decisions.
- Support seasonal reviews, markdown analysis, and inventory performance monitoring.
Reporting & Data Management
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly business reports and dashboards.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of planning and inventory data.
- Maintain planning databases, trackers, and reporting templates.
- Improve reporting efficiency through automation and process enhancements.
Planning Operations & Process Improvement
- Lead and support process improvement initiatives across merchandise planning and allocation operations.
- Coordinate with Allocation and IT teams to improve planning workflows and system utilization.
- Participate in system testing, enhancement projects, and operational improvements.
- Develop SOPs and maintain planning process documentation.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Buying, Allocation, Supply Chain, Store Operations, Finance, Marketing, and IT teams to support planning and inventory objectives.
- Ensure alignment between planning requirements and operational execution.
- Support execution of seasonal launches, markdowns, and inventory initiatives.
Team Support
- Provide guidance and support to junior planning team members.
- Assist the Merchandise Planning Manager in strategic and operational projects.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain, Economics, Statistics, or related field.
Experience
- 4–7 years of experience in merchandise planning support, retail analytics, planning operations, inventory analysis, or commercial reporting within fashion retail or related industries.
- Experience in reporting automation, systems, and process improvement is preferred.
- Supervisory experience is an advantage.
