About the role
The Commercial Mechanical Engineer specializes in conducting Material Take Offs (MTOs) specifically on contractors’ requirement for labelling of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems based on design scope and client specifications.
Key responsibilities
- Determines and clarifies the sizes and quantities of MSI products (signs, valve tags, etc.) needed
- Prepares a detailed MTO (Material Take Off) from customer-provided drawings, covering applicable systems and inventory including identification labels and markers for plumbing, HVAC ducting, and Medical Gas components, including mechanical piping, valves & equipment
- Sets up Revit parameters during the project’s initial phase, based on defined scope
- Completes a QC review to finalize the MTO following the in‑house developed automated Revit plugin MTO
- Involved in a R&D team for the continuous improvement of an in‑house developed Revit plugin
- Regularly updates the assigned project Daily Status Reports (DSU) with appropriate project and material information
- Consistently meets or exceeds performance KPIs, reflecting both productivity and quality standards
- Conducts peer QC reviews
- Oversees and mentors junior Commercial Engineering staff (ENG Level 1–2)
- Promotes an environment of teamwork and cooperation and is accessible to employees
- Review and confirm the scope of work with the team leader.
- Setup of the project parameters in Revit during the project's initial phase, based on defined scope.
- Prepares a detailed MTO from customer-provided drawings, covering applicable systems and inventory including identification labels and markers for plumbing, HVAC ducting, and medical gas components, including mechanical piping, valves & equipment.
- Conducts QC reviews in order to finalize the MTO .
- Involved with the R&D team in the continuous improvement of the in‑house developed Revit plugin.
About you
- Proficient in the usage of Revit. Advance knowledge in Revit would be a competitive advantage.
- Degree in Architecture or Mechanical (HVAC & Plumbing systems) or equivalent related experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial building design, specifically HVAC & plumbing design & layout or equivalent related experience.
- Advanced understanding of facility drawings including engineered contract drawings, Shop/IFC drawings, HVAC and plumbing layouts.
- Strong knowledge and experience in Bluebeam.
- Proficient in MS Office products, especially Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personalities.
- Exhibits above average organizational skills, multitasking skills, and can recognize and deal appropriately with competing priorities.
