• Examine urine, feces, sputum, spinal fluids and other body fluids
• Perform blood typing, cell counting, tests for sugar, albumin and hemoglobin levels
• Receive specimens for laboratory analysis and record results
• Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory apparatus and equipment
• Ensure safekeeping and proper utilization of equipment and supplies
• Ensure quality control
• Observe proper biohazard waste disposal

About the role

Performs various chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic tests used in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Prepares tissues for microscopic pathology and applies techniques used in the Field of Bacteriology, Parasitology, Hematology, Serology, and Chemical and Morphological examinations.

Key responsibilities

• Microscopically and chemically examines and tests urine, feces, sputum, spinal fluids and other body fluids and substances
• Performs blood typing, cell counting and tests for examining level of sugar, albumin, and hemoglobin content
• Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and records results
• Operates, maintains, and calibrates laboratory apparatus and equipment according to prescribed techniques
• Ensures safekeeping and proper utilization of equipment and supplies
• Ensures quality control
• Observes proper biohazard waste disposal
