ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Preferably a graduate of Computer-related or Paramedical / Medical-allied course
- Knowledgeable in basic computer operations (data encoding, MS Word/Excel, clinic systems)
- Familiarity with basic medical terms and medical documents is an advantage
- With at least three (3) months On-the-Job Training (OJT) or related experience in a clinic, hospital, or diagnostic center
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle confidential medical information
Job Summary
The Medical Encoder is responsible for accurately encoding, updating, and printing patients’ medical results based on completed medical worksheets submitted by the collators. The role is critical in ensuring that all medical findings from various diagnostic departments are correctly reflected in the Clinic Management Information System (CMIS) prior to the release of medical certificates.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Encoding
- Encode medical results from completed patient worksheets into the Clinic Management Information System (CMIS).
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of encoded data based on collated results from all medical sections, including but not limited to:
- Laboratory
- Optical
- Physical Examination
- X-ray
- ECG
- Audiometry
- Psychological Testing
- Cardiovascular
- Functional Capacity Evaluation
Medical Certificate Processing
- Encode and print medical certificates based on finalized and evaluated medical findings.
- Ensure that the declared medical status (Fit / Unfit / With Findings) matches the collator’s evaluation.
Results Updating
- Upgrade or update medical results in the clinic program as endorsed by collators or authorized personnel.
- Correct encoding errors promptly when identified.
Data Accuracy & Confidentiality
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient medical records and information.
- Follow clinic policies and data privacy guidelines at all times.
Coordination & Support
- Coordinate with collators and other departments when clarifications are needed.
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications (Optional but Recommended)
- Graduate of any medical-allied, IT, or related course (preferred but not required).
- Experience in medical encoding, medical records, or clinic/hospital information systems is an advantage.
- Computer-literate and detail-oriented.
- Able to work efficiently under time pressure while maintaining accuracy.
