Job summary

The candidate will review records, charts, and notes, code time-based services such as EEGs, and maintain quality and regulatory compliance while meeting turnaround times.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of medical coding experience.
• Experience in hospital and outpatient coding.

• Experience reviewing medical charts and clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Medical Coder with a strong background in hospital and outpatient coding.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing medical records, consultation notes, and clinical documentation to accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Experience with neurology is not required; however, candidates must have hands-on experience coding hospital-based encounters and procedures, including time-based services such as EEG studies.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient charts, consultation notes, operative reports, and clinical documentation.


• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for hospital and outpatient services.


• Code diagnostic procedures and time-based services, including EEGs and other specialty procedures, based on physician documentation.


• Ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and adherence to payer and regulatory guidelines.


• Identify and resolve documentation discrepancies by coordinating with providers and clinical staff.


• Maintain productivity and quality standards while meeting established turnaround times.


• Stay current with coding updates, payer policies, and industry regulations.

Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), CCS, or equivalent certification preferred.


• Minimum 2 years of medical coding experience.


• Required experience in hospital and/or outpatient coding.


• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.


• Experience reviewing medical charts, consultation notes, and clinical documentation.
