Job summary

MicroSourcing in the Philippines is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with hands-on HVAC design experience to join our remote night-shift team. You will develop HVAC systems, perform calculations, and coordinate with MEP disciplines to produce fully coordinated construction documents.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's (or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering, at least 2 years of HVAC building design experience, and proficiency with Carrier HAP and Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficiency with Carrier HAP for HVAC cooling load calculations.
• Ability to develop ventilation calculations in accordance with codes and ASHRAE.
• Duct sizing and hydronic piping sizing for HVAC systems.
• Ability to select and size HVAC equipment for calculated loads.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of applicable building, mechanical, ASHRAE, and NFPA codes.
• Produce HVAC zoning plans and ductwork/hydronic layouts.
• Size and route ductwork through ceilings and coordinate with structural models.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with other MEP disciplines for fully coordinated documents.
• Develop equipment specifications, HVAC load calculations, and ventilation calculations.
• Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and ensure on-time project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of applicable building codes, mechanical codes, ASHRAE standards, and NFPA standards.
• Ability to utilize or learn Revit to perform effective project design and implementation.
• Produce comprehensive HVAC zoning plans and coordinated equipment, ductwork, and hydronic piping layouts.
• Size and route ductwork through ceiling cavities and coordinated structural models.
• Size and route hydronic piping systems and coordinate piping with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Select and locate air distribution devices.
• Develop equipment and system specifications and schedules.
• Develop HVAC cooling load calculations using Carrier HAP.
• Develop ventilation calculations in accordance with applicable building codes, mechanical codes, and ASHRAE standards.
• Select and size appropriate HVAC equipment based on calculated loads, design criteria, project requirements, and manufacturer performance data.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of HVAC equipment, systems, and associated components.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with other MEP disciplines, architectural and structural systems, consultants, contractors, and trades to create fully coordinated contract documents.
• Utilize strong communication skills to translate technical information into clear and accessible formats for coworkers.
• Review equipment and system submittals for compliance with project requirements and design intent.
• Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), addressing queries promptly and accurately.
• Develop coordinated HVAC engineering designs and construction documents.
• Support team members and contribute to coordinated project delivery.
• Complete assigned MEP engineering work to a high standard of quality, on schedule, and within established project budgets.
