The Materials & Process Engineer serves as the scientific anchor of the production facility. This role is responsible for bridging the gap between waste plastic chemistry and industrial-grade board manufacturing. The focus is on stabilizing the working formulation, ensuring rigorous quality standards, and leading the technical path toward national and international product certifications.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Formulation & Applied Science
- Master Recipe Management: Maintain and safeguard the current working formulation.
- Material Stabilization: Adjust process parameters based on the type of incoming waste batches
- Polymer Research: Conduct materials testing and preliminary formulation trials for continuous innovation of Restore Boards.
- Market Research: Conduct market research and studies to identify customer needs, market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities. Analyze and interpret market data to provide insights and recommendations that support product development, product improvement, and innovation initiatives.
B. Quality Assurance & Feedback Loop
- Root Cause Analysis: Daily review of the QA rejection log provided by the Operations Manager to identify scientific causes of defects (e.g., warping, voids, or brittleness).
- Corrective Action: Translate floor observations into immediate process or material adjustments to prevent recurring failures.
- Process Improvement: Recommend (towards implementation) improvements in the production system to increase both quality of and efficiency in Restore Board productions.
C. Certification & Compliance
- Standards Alignment: Lead the technical preparation for Philippine National Standards (PNS), ISO certifications, and Green Building Council endorsements.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) required for B2B sales and regulatory audits.
3. Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or any allied field.
- Professional Experience: 1-3 years experience in manufacturing, quality control, or product development
- Technical Competency Requirements:
- Knowledge of basic polymer engineering, especially concerning commodity plastics
- Experience in plastics processing methods (e.g., extrusion, compression molding, injection molding) and materials testing is preferred
- Proficiency in data organization and standard root-cause analysis methodologies, with or without proprietary software
- Familiar with maintaining technical records, technical data sheets, or preparing documents for external audits
