Job summary

BBC Manila Marine Engineering Services is hiring a Marine & Offshore Structural Engineer – FEA to develop 3D structural models, perform FEA simulations, and design robust marine/offshore structures. The role involves preparing calculations, reports, and drawings while ensuring compliance with Classification Society rules and codes.

Strong experience with ANSYS SPACECLAIM, RHINO, SOLIDWORKS, and other FEA tools is required.

Qualifications

• 3D structural modelling experience with ANSYS SPACECLAIM, RHINO or SOLIDWORKS.
• FEA/FEM analysis and simulation experience (ANSYS, RFEM, SACS).
• Finite element meshing experience.
• Structural steel design for marine/offshore structures.
• Experience in marine, vessel, offshore, or heavy structural engineering.
• Knowledge of lifting lug/padeye, bolt and welded connection design.
• Ability to interpret FEA results and translate into practical engineering solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or related discipline.
• Understanding of structural mechanics, load paths, buckling and structural behavior.
• Familiarity with Classification Society rules (DNV, ABS, LR, BV).

Responsibilities

About the role

You will develop creative structural concepts, perform FEA simulations, and design practical solutions for marine transportation, vessels, heavy-lift equipment, and offshore structures.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3D structural and FEA models, including meshing, loads, and boundary conditions.
• Perform structural simulations and assess stress, deformation, buckling, and structural capacity.
• Design and analyze vessels, barges, hull structures, cargo transport frames, grillages, offshore platforms, modules, jackets, and marine equipment.
• Design lifting lugs/padeyes, bolted connections, welded connections, foundations, and structural details.
• Develop creative and practical structural concepts for complex engineering problems.
• Prepare calculations, FEA reports, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Design in accordance with applicable Classification Society requirements and structural codes.
