Job summary

Coinbase in Manila is seeking a Payments Risk Analyst I to protect customers by investigating high-risk fiat payment activity and balancing risk with customer experience. The role reports onsite at our Manila Centre of Excellence and requires full-time, in-office presence.

You will work with CX, Risk, and Engineering to ensure safe scaling of our payments ecosystem, while contributing to playbooks and SOPs and supporting ongoing training for new analysts.

Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of experience in payments risk, fraud operations, financial crime, trust & safety, or adjacent customer support roles in technology, fintech, or financial services.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate complex cases, synthesize multiple data points, and make sound judgment calls under time pressure.
• Comfortable working with metrics and SLAs (e.g., decision throughput, loss prevented, dispute outcomes, response times) in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong written communication skills with an emphasis on clear documentation and customer-centric explanations.
• Willingness to support shift-based work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Demonstrates the ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots in daily workflows, continuously learn as tools evolve, and apply human-in-the-loop practices to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and decision high-risk payments cases using internal tools to determine the safest outcome for customers and the business.
• Review account and transaction signals to identify potential fraud, scams, or abuse and take appropriate actions per SOPs.
• Apply, adjust, and remove payments-related flags and controls with documented rationale and impact.
• Partner with CX frontline teams on escalations requiring deeper payments risk review.
• Use data sources to identify emerging patterns, and quantify impact of decisions.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Trust & Safety, Product, and Engineering on complex cases and process improvements.
• Contribute to playbooks and SOP updates, and support training for new Analysts.
