Job summary

German European School Manila is seeking a native Mandarin Chinese Language Teacher to plan and deliver engaging lessons in a face-to-face classroom setting. You will support students in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while fostering Chinese culture and language appreciation.

The role requires strong classroom management, collaboration with teachers, and the ability to create age-appropriate, engaging learning experiences for school-aged students.

Qualifications

• Native Mandarin Chinese speaker or equivalent level of fluency
• Excellent spoken and written Mandarin Chinese
• Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language, Education, Linguistics, or a related field preferred
• Teaching qualification, certification, or relevant teaching experience is an advantage
• Previous experience teaching children or school-aged students preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to prepare engaging and age-appropriate lessons
• Patient, enthusiastic, adaptable, and student-oriented
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff
• Willingness and ability to teach on-site and face-to-face in a school setting

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate Mandarin Chinese lessons.
• Provide on-site, face-to-face instruction to students.
• Adapt teaching strategies and materials for different ages and levels.
• Develop lesson plans, activities, exercises, and learning materials.
• Assess and monitor students’ progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Incorporate Chinese culture and real-life language into lessons.
• Maintain classroom management and student engagement.
• Communicate professionally with school staff about learning progress.
• Participate in school activities, meetings, and events as required.
• Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and progress records.
• Perform other teaching-related duties as reasonably assigned by the school.
