Job summary

Sealed Air in Makati, Philippines, is seeking an experienced accounting leader to manage the Manila Plant Controllership Accounting Support team and to oversee month-end close processes. You will coordinate with plant controllers and site finance teams to ensure accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.

The role focuses on inventory and fixed asset accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing variances, with SAP as a core system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy required.
• CPA required or strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including manufacturing or plant accounting.
• Experience leading accounting teams within a shared services or multinational environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of month-end close, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory, fixed assets, CIP, standard costing, and manufacturing accounting.
• Experience with SAP; knowledge of OneStream, Power BI, inventory systems, or fixed asset systems is a plus.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Month-End Close

• Lead the Manila-based Plant Controllership Accounting Support team, including oversight of daily activities, workload prioritization, performance management, coaching, and capability development.
• Serve as a point of contact for Plant Controllers and site finance teams, ensuring timely and accurate accounting support.
• Oversee recurring plant-level month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, close schedules, account analysis, and supporting documentation.
• Review and monitor balance sheet reconciliations for inventory, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, CIP, manufacturing variances, and other plant-related accounts.
• Coordinate investigation and resolution of accounting-related variances involving inventory, manufacturing expenses, purchase price variance, standard costs, and other plant accounting balances.

Plant Accounting & Manufacturing Support

• Oversee inventory accounting support, including cycle count support, inventory adjustments, reserve analysis, physical inventory activities, and follow-up on inventory discrepancies.
• Oversee fixed asset and CIP accounting activities, including project spend tracking, capitalization, asset additions, retirements, transfers, and supporting documentation.
• Review recurring plant accounting reports, including cost center reporting, inventory reporting, manufacturing cost reporting, and variance analyses.
• Partner with Plant Controllers and site finance teams to support accounting review of standard costs, manufacturing variances, inventory valuation, and other plant accounting activities.

Controls & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and audit documentation standards.
• Support internal and external audits by coordinating information requests, reviewing documentation, and ensuring timely responses.

Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement

• Develop team members through coaching, training, performance feedback, and cross-training.
• Establish and monitor service level expectations, quality standards, and escalation procedures between the Manila CoE and supported manufacturing sites.
• Drive standardization, documentation, automation, and continuous improvement across recurring plant accounting processes.

Qualifications

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy required.
• CPA required or strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, manufacturing accounting, plant accounting, cost accounting, or controllership.
• Prior experience leading accounting teams within a shared services, Center of Excellence, or multinational organization preferred.
• Strong understanding of month-end close, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory accounting, fixed assets, CIP, standard costing, and manufacturing accounting.
• Experience supporting manufacturing environments, plant controllership, inventory accounting, and operational accounting processes.
• Experience with SAP required; experience with OneStream, Power BI, inventory systems, or fixed asset systems preferred.
