Job summary

SGS is seeking a technician to maintain and repair laboratory and inspection instruments for the NR-Minerals Group. This role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance, with fault finding and preventive upkeep of geochem equipment.

Experience in electrical wiring and mechanical maintenance (1-2 years) and a TESDA NC III in Industrial Electrician are required. Fluency in English is expected, with attention to safety and 5S standards in daily tasks.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years’ experience in Geochem equipment troubleshooting (ovens, furnaces, fume hoods, mass balances).
• 1-2 years’ experience in electrical wiring and troubleshooting and mechanical maintenance.

Responsibilities

• In-charge of maintenance and/or repairs of all laboratory and inspection instruments for NR-Minerals Group.
• Provide first level technical assistance to facilities and coordinate with third-party contractors as needed.
• Install electrical devices and perform preventive maintenance on lab equipment.
• Monitor downtime and respond promptly to any failure or breakdown.
• Adhere to QHSEE policies and participate in safety trainings and incident reporting.

Primary Responsibilities

• In-charge of the maintenance and/or repairs of all laboratory and inspection instruments and equipment for the entire NR-Minerals Group.

Specific Responsibilities

• Provides first level technical assistance to all laboratory and inspection facilities and as necessary coordinate with the appropriate third-party contractors for support services covering:
• Installation of electrical devices
• Repair and troubleshooting of instruments
• Performs preventive maintenance on all laboratory equipment, instruments / facilities based on annual calendar activities
• Monitors down time in the event of any failure or breakdown
• Performs other similar technical assistance or takes appropriate action for further management decision.
• Performs other related responsibilities that maybe assigned either in contribution to the department goal or for his/her personal or professional training, education, or development as programmed by his or her immediate superior.
• Complies with the Quality, Health and Safety, Environment and Energy (QHSEE) policies and supporting objectives including, but not limited to:
• Demonstrates strong obligation to SGS QHSEE policies, procedures and work instructions by actively participating in meetings, projects and events, completes required training, intervenes in unsafe situations, refuses unsafe work, and complies fully with all applicable laws and regulations related to HSEE
• Perform appropriately and immediately to emergency situations and assists other staff members in maintaining readiness to respond to emergencies within the workplace
• Disposes or directs the disposal of waste generated as a part of daily work performed in a safe manner and in compliance with the disposal regulations and requirements, and in accordance with SGS Environmental Management System requirements
• Reports all incidents, including near misses and hazards, that may affect the achievement of QHSEE objectives in accordance with SGS Incident Reporting and Management requirements
• Efficiently uses all equipment, including safety equipment, and company owned property in the manner intended and reports any damaged / lost equipment to immediate superior
• Maintains a safe and tidy worksite according to the organization’s 5S program and guidelines
• Maintains awareness of the safety and health related hazards and environmental aspects and proposes action plans to control the risks to immediate superior or QHSEE Coordinators
• Actively participates in incident investigations and risk assessments as deemed necessary by SGS management
• Fulfills the requirements needed in the success of the QHSEE Management System
• Recognizes the potential consequences of not following the established policies, procedures, and guidelines, including not fulfilling the organization’s compliance obligations

Education: Vocational/trade course graduate of industrial electrician, TESDA NC III certificate

Experience/Technical Knowledge

• 1-2 years’ experience in Geochem equipment troubleshooting (Geochem equipment - ovens, furnaces, fume hoods, mass balances, etc)
• 1-2 years’ experience in electrical wiring and troubleshooting and mechanical maintenance
