The Maintenance Operator is crucial for ensuring the proper functioning, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems essential for maintaining optimal storage conditions for perishable goods. Their role directly impacts the facility's operational efficiency, reliability, and compliance with safety and quality standards. By performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and addressing repairs promptly, they contribute to the smooth operation of the facility, minimize downtime, and protect valuable inventory.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  1. Equipment Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance tasks on refrigeration units, HVAC systems, conveyors, and other equipment used in cold storage operations, following maintenance schedules and manufacturer guidelines to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  2. Troubleshooting: Diagnose equipment malfunctions, electrical issues, and mechanical failures using diagnostic tools and techniques, and implement corrective measures to resolve problems and minimize downtime.
  3. Repair and Replacement: Conduct repairs, adjustments, and component replacements on equipment and systems as needed, including compressors, motors, sensors, valves, and control panels, to restore functionality and prevent equipment failure.
  4. Emergency Response: Respond to equipment breakdowns, malfunctions, and emergencies promptly, assess the situation, and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks, ensure safety, and minimize disruptions to operations.
  5. Facility Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify potential issues, safety hazards, or maintenance needs, and report findings to maintenance supervisors for follow-up.
  6. Parts Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies necessary for maintenance and repairs, monitor stock levels, and requisition additional supplies as needed to support maintenance activities.
  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, repairs, and replacements, ensuring documentation is up-to-date and accessible for reference and compliance purposes.
  8. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and company policies in performing maintenance tasks, including lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and hazardous materials handling.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  1. Refrigeration System Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance tasks on ammonia refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, piping, and controls, following manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.
  2. Ammonia Handling: Safely handle, store, and transport ammonia refrigerant according to established procedures and regulations, including monitoring ammonia levels, conducting leak checks, and implementing containment measures to prevent exposure hazards.
  3. Equipment Inspection and Testing: Conduct regular inspections and testing of refrigeration equipment and components, such as pressure testing, leak detection, and oil analysis, to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  4. Emergency Response: Respond to ammonia leaks, equipment malfunctions, and emergency situations promptly, following emergency response procedures, and implementing containment and evacuation measures to protect personnel and minimize environmental impact.
  5. Repairs and Replacements: Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, diagnose root causes of failures, and implement corrective measures, such as repairs, adjustments, or component replacements, to restore functionality and prevent equipment downtime.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, repairs, and replacements, ensuring documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  7. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and company policies related to ammonia refrigeration, including process safety management (PSM) standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  8. Training and Education: Stay updated on advances in ammonia refrigeration technology, safety practices, and regulatory requirements through ongoing training and professional development opportunities, and share knowledge with colleagues as needed.
BONUS SKILLS:
  1. Refrigeration Certification: Certification in refrigeration systems or HVAC-R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) can demonstrate specialized expertise and enhance credibility in cold storage maintenance.
