Job summary

Cognizant is looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer to join our Philippines team. You will develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, Assembler, JCL, CICS, DB2, and related tools.

The ideal candidate has 3–17 years of mainframe experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or within a team in a fast-paced environment. Banking knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
• 3–17 years of mainframe development experience.
• Strong knowledge of COBOL, Assembler, JCL, CICS, DB2 and other mainframe languages.
• Experience with mainframe systems such as z/OS, IMS and VSAM.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement solutions that meet business requirements and technical specifications
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers
• Collaborate with other teams, including business analysts, quality assurance, and project management, to ensure successful project delivery
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities
• Identify and resolve technical issues and bugs in a timely manner
• Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in mainframe development

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 3-17 years of experience in mainframe development
• Strong knowledge of COBOL, Assembler, JCL, CICS, DB2, and other mainframe programming languages and tools
• Experience working with mainframe systems such as z/OS, IMS, and VSAM
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus
• Experience in banking industry is preferred
