Job summary

Aeven is seeking a Level 1 Linux/Unix Operations Engineer to provide operational support for Linux/Unix servers across on-premises and cloud environments. Ability to independently identify, troubleshoot, and resolve common Linux/Unix operating system issues.
Capable of performing routine patching, maintenance activities, and operating system upgrades with minimal supervision.
Understanding of system monitoring, log analysis, and incident management processes.
Knowledge of scripting and automation technologies (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible) is considered an advantage.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

As a Level 1 Linux/Unix Operations Engineer, you will provide operational support for Linux/Unix server environments across on‑premises and cloud platforms. You will work closely with customers and cross‑functional infrastructure teams to ensure the stability, availability, and performance of critical systems. This role is part of a global 24x7 support organization with team members based in Denmark, India, and the Philippines.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Level 1 operational support for Linux/Unix server environments in both on‑premises and cloud infrastructures.
Monitor, investigate, and resolve incidents, alerts, events, service requests, and change activities related to Linux/Unix operating systems.
Perform routine system administration tasks, including OS patching, security updates, and operating system upgrades.
Adhere to Aeven and customer policies, operational standards, and established procedures to ensure service quality and compliance.
Collaborate with cross‑functional infrastructure teams, including Network, Identity & Access Management (UAM), Backup & Fileshare, Virtualization, Database, and Cloud Services, to support projects and troubleshoot complex issues.
Proactively identify potential risks, recurring issues, and opportunities for service improvement, and recommend appropriate solutions.
Develop, maintain, and enhance operational documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process workflows related to Linux/Unix administration.
Participate in knowledge‑sharing initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of operational practices.

Work Schedule and Expectations

The Manila‑based team primarily covers graveyard and early morning shifts:
8:00 PM to 5:00 AM
4:00 AM to 1:00 PM (inclusive of a 1‑hour break)
Shift schedules may rotate periodically based on business requirements and team growth.
Work‑from‑home arrangements are supported for the designated shift schedules. However, occasional onsite attendance may be required during customer visits or business‑critical activities.

Work Schedule

Employees will be expected to adhere to a flexible hybrid work schedule, with a required presence in the office for 2 days per week, allowing for customization of work hours within a specified morning or mid‑shift time frame.
