Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a Legal Counsel to support growth across Singapore and other international markets. You will work with commercial, operations and management teams on regulatory compliance and cross-border matters.

Responsibilities include researching laws, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, handling regulatory monitoring, and providing training and risk guidance for teams in a fast-paced tech environment. Fluent Mandarin and good English are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or above in Law from a reputable university.
• 1+ years of relevant legal experience in internet/digital platform, technology company, law firm, multinational company or similar environment.
• Experience in commercial contracts, corporate matters, regulatory compliance or cross-border business is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Market Expansion & Regulatory Compliance: Conduct legal research for expansion in Singapore and target markets; identify requirements and provide practical solutions.
• Business & Corporate Legal Support: End-to-end legal support for daily operations, governance and regulatory matters; coordinate with regulators and external counsel.
• Commercial Contracts & Business Agreements: Draft, review and negotiate contracts, NDAs, platform terms; ensure commercial practicality while managing risks.
• Incident, Complaint & Employee Matters: Provide legal assessment for customer complaints and employee matters; manage high-risk issues and coordinate with parties.
• Regulatory Monitoring & Compliance: Monitor changes in Singapore and other jurisdictions; translate developments into guidance for business teams; develop compliance resources.
• Compliance Training & Risk Awareness: Provide training to teams; promote awareness and improvements of internal controls.

A Legal Counsel professional to support the company’s business expansion and day-to-day operations in Singapore and other international markets.

This role is suitable for a legal professional who is interested in technology, digital platforms, cross-border business and regulatory compliance, and wants to work closely with commercial, operations and management teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Market Expansion & Regulatory Compliance

Conduct legal and regulatory research for business expansion and operations in Singapore and other target markets.

Identify key legal and compliance requirements and provide practical solutions to support business decisions.

Assess legal risks related to new products, services, partnerships and market-entry activities.

2. Business & Corporate Legal Support

Provide end-to-end legal support for daily business operations, compliance, corporate governance and regulatory matters.

Support communication and coordination with regulators, external legal counsel and relevant business partners.

Manage and coordinate external lawyers where specialist legal advice is required.

3. Commercial Contracts & Business Agreements

Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, cooperation agreements, service agreements, NDAs and other business-related legal documents.

Review platform terms, policies, rules and other documents from a legal and compliance perspective.

Work closely with business teams to ensure contracts are commercially practical while managing legal risks.

4. Incident, Complaint & Employee Matters

Provide legal assessment and practical solutions for complex customer complaints, employee-related matters, public relations issues and other unexpected business incidents.

Support the company in handling sensitive or high-risk matters and coordinate with relevant internal and external parties.

Conduct case reviews and recommend improvements to reduce recurring legal and operational risks.

5. Regulatory Monitoring & Compliance

Continuously monitor changes in Singapore and other relevant jurisdictions’ laws, regulations and regulatory policies.

Translate regulatory developments into clear and practical guidance for business teams.

Develop compliance guidelines, risk alerts and internal legal resources.

6. Compliance Training & Risk Awareness

Provide legal and compliance training to business and operations teams.

Promote compliance awareness and help business teams identify potential legal risks before issues arise.

Support the development and improvement of internal compliance processes and controls.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or above in Law or a related legal discipline from a reputable university.

1+ years of relevant legal experience in an internet/digital platform, technology company, law firm, multinational company or similar environment.

Experience in commercial contracts, corporate matters, regulatory compliance or cross-border business is preferred.

Strong interest in technology, innovation, digital platforms and international business.

Able to independently identify, assess and manage legal and compliance risks.

Fluent Mandarin and good English; able to use English as a working language in a professional environment.

Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work across different cultures and business functions.

Proactive, self-motivated and highly responsible, with good judgement and strong problem-solving skills.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing business environment.
