Job summary

Copper Manufacturing Dahej is seeking a seasoned EPC Project Engineer to drive plant design, PFDs/P&IDs, and commissioning for a copper production facility. You will lead cross-functional teams, ensure safety and environmental standards, and coordinate with licensors and vendors.

The role requires hands-on EPC lifecycle experience, proficiency with AutoCAD, SAP, and MS Project/Primavera, and the ability to manage budgets and schedules in a heavy manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering with relevant EPC project experience.
• Hands-on experience in design review, PFDs, P&IDs, HAZOP, SIL studies.
• Proven track record in equipment sizing, procurement, FAT, QA/QC.
• Exposure to EPC lifecycle from design to commissioning.
• Familiarity with environmental controls and safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Process & plant design finalization and collaboration with licensors.
• Validate equipment sizing and design basis; approve specs.
• Coordinate with vendors for FAT and QA/QC checks.
• Supervise erection of plant equipment and interconnecting systems.
• Coordinate electrical and instrumentation works (interlocks, DCS).
• Ensure safety, environmental compliance, risk assessments.
• Plan commissioning activities and execute trials.
• Monitor heat recovery, steam and water system integration.
• Develop SOPs for unit operations and train engineers/operators.
• Track costs vs. budget and push for timely delivery.

• Process & Plant Design Finalization
• Collaborate with licensors to finalize PFDs, P&IDs, HAZOP, SIL studies.
• Validate equipment sizing, metallurgy selection- Freeze process guarantees and design basis
• Equipment Procurement & FAT
• Review and approve technical specifications of critical and non-critical equipment.
• Participate in vendor evaluation, FAT, and QA/QC checks- Track and expedite manufacturing timelines
• Monitor erection of converter, drying/absorption towers, blowers, interconnecting ducts- Supervise acid-proof lining and anchoring.
• Coordinate electrical and instrumentation works (interlocks, DCS)
• Safety & Environmental Compliance
• Implement safety protocols for SO? handling and acid leaks- Coordinate with HSE team for risk assessments, interlocks, and emergency preparedness.
• Ensure environmental controls (mist eliminators, scrubbers) are functional
• Plan and supervise dry and wet commissioning activities.
• Execute trials of acid circulation, converter firing, and tail gas treatment.
• Monitor SO? emissions and adjust operating parameters.
• Heat Recovery System Integration
• Coordinate with utility and WHRB teams to align acid plant's steam and water systems.
• Ensure proper functioning of economizers, coolers, and condensers.
• Team Training & SOP Documentation
• Create and review SOPs for each unit operation (converter, towers, circulation pumps, acid storage).
• Conduct classroom and field training for engineers and operators.
• Facilitate simulator-based training, if applicable
• Budget & Schedule Adherence
• Track actual costs vs. budget in coordination with finance- Escalate delays or deviations proactively.
• Push vendors and contractors for timely delivery and progress
• Handover & Documentation Closure
• Ensure closure of all punch points- Collate QA/QC, test reports, commissioning logs, equipment manuals, SOPs.
• Coordinate with O&M for handover readiness and sign-off

Functional Skills

• Familiarity with environmental control systems (scrubbers, tail gas treatment, mist eliminators)
• Hands-on experience in EPC project lifecycle - from design review to commissioning
• Exposure to mechanical, civil, E&I engineering in chemical plants
• Working knowledge of safety systems, HAZOP, interlock logic, and emergency response
• Proficiency in tools like AutoCAD, MS Project/Primavera, and SAP (project module)
