Job summary

SMEC is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager for a project-based contract in the Philippines. The role focuses on developing environmental strategies, overseeing contractor performance, and ensuring compliance with local and international standards to support delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

The incumbent will coordinate with the Southeast Asia Environment Team, apply IFC and ADB safeguards, and lead environmental management meetings with clients and contractors while driving

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• At least five years of progressively responsible environmental management experience on active construction sites.
• Experience in construction projects, water quality monitoring for dredging, and reclamation projects.
• Experience in environmental studies, planning, and monitoring of engineering projects.
• Demonstrated technical ability and ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with clients and contractors across diverse cultures.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements environmental strategies, policies, and action plans for smooth project delivery.
• Oversee daily project activities and contractor performance to ensure compliance with the Environmental Monitoring and Management Plan.
• Ensure compliance with Philippine environmental laws, permits, and regulatory requirements and lender requirements.
• Apply IFC Performance Standards and ADB Safeguard Policy in site management.
• Promote awareness, train staff on environmental issues, and coordinate with regional teams to share lessons learned.
