Job summary

ECG Engineering leads the Manila-based control systems team to design and program advanced automation for mineral processing across global sites. You will guide a skilled group through demanding projects, delivering robust DCS/PLC/SCADA solutions and technical reports for clients.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with ECG's offices worldwide, and ensure successful study, design, commissioning and handover phases. On-site in Manila is required.

Step into a pivotal role as a Lead Control Systems Engineer, where you'll drive the design, programming, and coordination of sophisticated automation solutions for high-value mineral processing projects across Australia, Asia, Africa, and beyond. This leadership position demands exceptional technical communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a solid understanding of project development processes for junior to mid-tier miners.

You'll leverage your expertise in distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and SCADA platforms—including Rockwell, Emerson, Schneider, Yokogawa, Siemens, CITECT, and Cimplicity to deliver innovative solutions from first-principle controls philosophy through to commissioning and handover. Your leadership and project coordination ability will be essential as you mentor and motivate a highly technical controls team, collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across global offices, and provide technical guidance on complex automation requirements for remote mining plant design and upgrades.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to front-end engineering studies, prepare technical reports for clients, and coordinate troubleshooting and commissioning specialists across multiple international locations. Your problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with hands‑on mineral processing control systems experience and remote mining operations knowledge, will ensure project success across the resources, energy, and renewables sectors.

About the Role:

• Lead and motivate the Manila-based Control Systems design and programming team to deliver high-quality solutions for mineral processing projects.
• Coordinate control systems design, programming and coding for complex mineral processing projects across Australia, Asia and Africa.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for clients on control systems design and implementation.
• Contribute to front-end engineering studies for greenfield and brownfield mining projects with complex automation requirements.
• Design and specify distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC) and SCADA systems for mining operations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across ECG's global offices on project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level control systems engineers.
• Support clients through all project phases from early study work to commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate troubleshooting and commissioning site specialists from ECG's Perth, Brisbane, Toronto, Vancouver and Cape Town offices.

About the Candidate:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Demonstrated team management and motivation experience in a technical engineering environment.
• Solid understanding of electrical, instrumentation and control technical principles with proven experience in developing, designing and programming control systems for complex industrial plant and assets.
• Demonstrated experience working in specialised electrical and control systems teams on front-end greenfield and brownfield development projects with complex controls and automation scope.
• Control systems design experience, ideally with exposure to Rockwell, Emerson (GE) and Schneider platforms.
• Distributed Control System (DCS) experience, ideally with Yokogawa systems.
• Programmable Logic Control (PLC) experience, ideally with Rockwell and Siemens platforms.
• SCADA system experience with platforms such as CITECT or Cimplicity.
• Understanding of project development processes for junior and mid-tier mining companies.
• Experience with mineral processing related electrical projects and studies, from detail design through to commissioning and handover.
• Strong leadership and collaborative skills with the ability to contribute effectively to meetings and exercise good judgement on technical contributions.
• Experience with remote mining operations, particularly in challenging environments such as Africa and Asia.
• Exceptional technical communication skills with the ability to prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation for clients.
• Meticulous attention to detail and quality in all aspects of control systems design and implementation.
• Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level control systems engineers.
• Experience coordinating troubleshooting and commissioning site specialists across multiple international locations.
• Work references from Lycopodium or ECG Engineering will be considered an advantage.
• Must be willing to work on‑site in our Manila office.
