Job description

Joining Arup

Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

This is a key role within our project team, focused on delivering accurate and technically rigorous engineering solutions across a broad portfolio of infrastructure projects. As a Lead Engineer, you will bring technical depth and engineering judgement to project delivery while also playing a meaningful role in shaping the team around you.

A significant part of this role is centered on ensuring an engaging and positive experience for our people. You will positively role model Arup's values and bring your own authentic leadership style to build and develop successful teams and individuals — engaging and inspiring people to deliver excellence, fostering a team environment of inclusion, flexibility, collaboration and innovation, and building individual and team capability through continuous learning and development practices.

The Opportunity
  • Providing technical leadership in the delivery of a wide range of infrastructure projects, including bridges and viaducts, culverts, liquid and soil retaining structures, buildings, water infrastructure, transport, marine, energy projects, and large site development works.
  • Contributing to resource planning, supervision and management of the engineering and design team for timely project delivery.
  • Attending, participating in and chairing kick-off, progress and coordination meetings on various projects with clients and higher-level stakeholder engineers.
  • Authoring official documents and technical reports; conducting and leading condition assessment and structural integrity survey teams for various types of structures, including site and structure visits.
  • Coordinating work with other disciplines and collaborating across Arup's global network to deliver remarkable outcomes for clients and communities.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?
  • Licensed Civil Engineer with at least 12 years' experience in a similar capacity, with specialisation in bridge and/or civil structures engineering — preferably gained from multidisciplinary consulting firms or similar industries. Post-graduate studies in bridge or structural engineering (BSc, MSc, MEng, PhD or DEng) will be an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of the fundamental principles of civil and structural engineering, including mechanics of materials, design techniques and construction methods, with knowledgeable and practical application of local codes (NBCP, NSCP, DPWH) and international standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, AASHTO, FHWA, ASTM, BS, Eurocodes, AS/NZ, etc.).
  • Has in-depth knowledge and practical experience of structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, MIDAS Civil, ETABS, SAP2000, Strand7 or SpaceGass, and experience in steel and anchorage to concrete connection design tools such as IDEAStatica, LIMCON, RAM Connection or HILTI Profis Engineering.
  • Proficient in structural engineering drafting using AutoCAD, with experience in Revit Structure or Tekla Structures considered a plus; familiarity with Autodesk Civil3D, OpenRoad Designer or ArcGIS will be an advantage.
  • You bring analytical and technical ingenuity in solving design problems, with good visualisation and data presentation skills, and strong oral and written English communication skills.
