The role combines hands-on laboratory work with supervisory duties to maintain technical quality and mentor staff. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, a current PRC Chemist License, and 2–3 years in analytical testing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Active PRC Chemist License.
  • Preferably 2–3 years of experience in an analytical testing laboratory.
  • Experience in physicochemical analysis and laboratory operations.
  • Experience in analytical method verification and/or validation.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, CAPA, and risk assessment.
  • Experience in reviewing technical and laboratory documentation.
  • Strong understanding of GLP, laboratory safety, and quality systems.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HALAL, ISO 9001, ASEAN Cosmetic GMP, and FDA guidelines is an advantage.
  • Training or experience in Pollution Control Officer (PCO) functions, environmental compliance, or hazardous waste management is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with laboratory personnel and other departments.
  • Willingness to perform hands‑on laboratory work while managing supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations and testing activities of the Physico-Chemical Laboratory.
  • Plan and prioritize laboratory testing activities to ensure timely completion within established turnaround times (TAT).
  • Perform hands‑on physicochemical testing and analysis as needed.
  • Review laboratory worksheets, test records, and analytical documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Conduct and support analytical method verification and related technical activities.
  • Lead investigations of out-of-specification (OOS), abnormal, or atypical analytical results and support appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety requirements, chemical handling procedures, and chemical waste disposal practices.
  • Oversee the calibration, maintenance, and proper use of laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with applicable GLP, ISO, GMP, and other relevant quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Directly supervise, mentor, coach, and evaluate laboratory analysts, laboratory aides, and trainees.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Physico-Chemical Laboratory.
  • Perform other laboratory-related responsibilities as may be assigned.

Role Description

Laboratory Chemist / Physico-Chemical Supervisor will provide operational and technical supervision of the Physico-Chemical Laboratory, ensuring that laboratory testing activities are properly planned, prioritized, performed, reviewed, and completed within established turnaround times.
