Job summary

Dole Philippines, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Specialist based in Polomolok, South Cotabato. You will perform specialized chemical analyses and ensure accuracy of results per applicable standards and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities include handling LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, UHPLC and other spectroscopy/ICP equipment, conducting method validation, preparing reagents, and supporting audits and proficiency testing. Strong attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Technology or related field is required or preferred.
• Valid PRC license (Chemist or Chemical Technician) is required.
• Preferably 2 years laboratory experience but open to fresh graduates.
• Knowledge of good laboratory practices and analytical techniques.

Responsibilities

• Performs sample preparation, extraction, and qualitative/quantitative chemical analyses of various samples.
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots analytical laboratory equipment like LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, UHPLC, GC, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, FTIR, UV-VIS, and others.
• Conducts method validation/verification of procedures.
• Prepares reagents and calibration standards for analyses.
• Maintains cleanliness and order in the laboratory area.
• Participates in internal/external audits related to accreditation.
• Participates in proficiency testing and performance evaluations.
• Performs other tasks as directed by Laboratory Operations Manager and/or Laboratory Section Head.

About the role

Based at Polomolok, South Cotabato, this role will report to the Laboratory Section Head and is responsible for performing specialized chemical analyses and ensuring the reliability and accuracy of laboratory results in accordance with applicable laboratory standards, methods, and accreditation requirements, including ISO/IEC 17025:2017, DENR-EMB, and other applicable standards and recognitions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs sample preparation, extraction, and qualitative/quantitative chemical analyses of food, environmental, agricultural, contaminant, fertilizers, pesticides and packaging samples.
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots analytical laboratory equipment (LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, UHPLC, GC, IC, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, FTIR, UV-VIS, CN Analyzer, auto-titrator, microwave digester, and others).
• Conducts method validation and/or method verification of new and existing laboratory testing procedures.
• Prepares chemical reagents and calibration standards for various analyses.
• Maintains cleanliness and order in the working area.
• Participate in internal and external audits, including activities related to laboratory accreditation and recognition.
• Participate in proficiency testing (PT) and other laboratory performance evaluation activities for assigned analytical methods.
• Performs other tasks as directed by the Laboratory Operations Manager and/or Laboratory Section Head.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Technology or any related field.
• Valid PRC license (Chemist or Chemical Technician)
• Preferably with 2 years of laboratory working experience but also open to fresh graduates.
• Knowledgeable of good laboratory practices and laboratory techniques
• Capable of operating and troubleshooting basic laboratory equipment and familiarity with advanced analytical laboratory equipment
• Can work effectively both with a team and independently
• High degree of attention to detail and strong analytical skills
