Job Overview
We are looking for a Finance & Reporting Analyst / Accountant to support the production and delivery of accurate, timely financial and regulatory reporting for our General Insurance (GI) business. Working within the Finance & Accounting team, you will handle monthly close activities, management and statutory accounts, regulatory submissions, and underwriting analysis. This role involves close collaboration with Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, and IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monthly Close & Financial Control
- Execute month-end and year-end close activities (journal postings, trial balance reviews, and GL reconciliations).
- Perform closing checks on key insurance accounts (premium debtors, UPR, claims provisions, reinsurance, and suspense accounts).
- Maintain the close control checklist and support external year-end audit processes.
2. Management Accounts & Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and executive finance packs for the CFO and Board.
- Track and report core GI metrics (GWP, NEP, loss ratio, expense ratio, combined ratio) by line of business.
- Partner with Claims and Actuaries to ensure reserves and IBNR are accurately reflected.
3. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Assist in preparing statutory financial statements compliant with IFRS 4 and IFRS 17.
- Support the preparation of regulatory returns for the Insurance Commission, SEC, and BSP.
- Ensure consistency between management accounts, IFRS 17 models, and Solvency returns.
4. Financial Analysis & Insights
- Perform variance analysis against budget and forecasts, investigating drivers behind claims frequency, severity, and large loss impacts.
- Analyze underwriting performance by product line to provide actionable insights to FP&A and business partners.
- Build ad-hoc financial models for strategic projects and business planning.
5. Data & Process Improvement
- Act as the Finance point of contact for policy administration, claims, and GL data feeds; collaborate with IT to resolve system issues.
- Identify opportunities to automate templates, reduce close cycle times, and strengthen controls.
Job Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant is an advantage but not preferred.
- At least 2 years or more professional experience, preferably in financial analysis or management accounting or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of basic non-life insurance and Investment Accounting
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and deliver results on time under pressure
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
