Job summary

American Express Philippines is seeking a Colleague & Labor Relations Specialist to champion fair and consistent colleague experiences, support the business, and minimise legal exposure across markets. You will report to the CLR Manager and collaborate with multiple partners globally to drive data-driven labour-relations solutions.

Responsibilities include managing complex employment relations cases, supporting new business initiatives, and developing strategic CLR programmes to mitigate risk

Qualifications

  • Professional-level fluency in Japanese and English.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience with concentration in Employee & Labour Relations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, Law, or related discipline.
  • Experience handling Employee Relations issues for different markets, globally.
  • Experience in conducting sensitive workplace investigations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to cascade complex messages.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end complex employment relations cases and track through the global case management tool.
  • Provide support to new business initiatives including process guidance for consultation and documentation support.
  • Provide CLR specialist advice to the CEG team members in different areas of their roles across different markets, globally.
  • Support the implementation of global organisational change initiatives or projects to drive efficiency and add CLR value.
  • Deliver CLR training to leaders and employees to find opportunities to reduce labour risk and research and develop pivotal initiatives to mitigate it.
  • Review and update CEG policies and procedures.
  • Respond to CEG/CLR enquiries escalated from the American Express Colleague Service Center.

The Colleague & Labor Relations (“CLR”) Specialist will be a member of the Philippines Colleague Experience Group (“CEG", Human Resources) and will be responsible for championing solutions that drive a fair and consistent colleague experience, support the business, and minimise legal exposure across different markets. While demonstrating the American Express Leadership Behaviours and Blue Box Values, this individual will report to the CLR Manager and support several markets globally:

Continuously seek opportunities to deliver the highest quality employment and labour relations solutions

Drive proactive, data-driven trend identification and solutions to support CEG and business strategies

Establish and maintain strong risk, control, privacy and audit practices across all processes, programmes and partners

Build strong relationships with key partners throughout American Express including Colleague Strategic Partners (formerly HR Business Partners), Compliance, Safety, Security, Internal Audit, Health and Wellness and the General Counsel’s Organization

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end complex employment relations cases (performance management, disciplinary procedures, grievance investigations) and track through the global case management tool

Provide support to new business initiatives including process guidance for consultation and documentation support

Provide CLR specialist advice to the CEG team members in different areas of their roles across different markets, globally

Support the implementation of global organisational change initiatives or projects to drive efficiency and add CLR value

Deliver CLR training to leaders and employees to find opportunities to reduce labour risk and research and develop pivotal initiatives to mitigate it

Review and update CEG policies and procedures

Respond to CEG/CLR enquiries escalated from the American Express Colleague Service Center

Ability to work in a multi-market setting

Amenable to work on shifting schedules. Able to adjust working schedules as required by the market being supported

Minimum Qualifications:

Professional-level fluency (spoken and written) in Japanese and English, with the ability to conduct business communications, interpret employment-related documentation, and engage effectively with colleagues and stakeholders in supported markets

5+ years of progressive HR experience with concentration in Employee & Labour Relations

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, Law, or related discipline

Relevant experience of handling Employee Relations issues for different markets, globally

Experience in conducting sensitive workplace investigations

Strong organisational skills and a proven drive for results

Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to cascade complex messages in simple form

Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence leaders and colleagues at all levels, challenge the status quo, confront difficult issues, and demonstrate a high degree of comfort with ambiguity

Workplace Flexibility: Full time. Must be amenable to follow a hybrid work arrangement (onsite and work from home)

Work From Home Requirements:

Must have at least 25 mbps internet connection plan / speed

Must have a private & quiet area to work at home
