Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an IT Security Operations Analyst II to protect its information systems and networks. The role emphasizes blue team operations, vulnerability management, incident response, and security engineering with hands-on use of SIEM, EDR, and UEBA tools.

You will mentor Level 1 analysts, lead investigations, and contribute to playbooks while collaborating with IT and other stakeholders to maintain a robust cybersecurity framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 2+ years of experience in a Level 2 (L2) Cyber Security role.
• Highly desirable certifications: CompTIA Security+ (SEC+), CYSA+, or equivalent.
• Relevant system and network certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Cisco CCNA.

Responsibilities

• Leverage threat intelligence to identify and detect emerging cyber threats.
• Enhance team efficiency through automation and tuning of security controls.
• Review and provide recommendations to strengthen security posture.
• Act as escalation point for process and technical guidance within the team.
• Conduct quality audits of incident tickets and ensure adherence to processes.
• Investigate security alerts escalated by Level 1 SOC Analysts.
• Analyze data to assess anomalies and potential threats.
• Manage security incidents and response processes with timely resolution.
• Lead investigations and mentor Level 1 Analysts.
• Contribute to SOC playbooks and knowledge base for future investigations.
• Provide on-call support for high-priority security incidents.
• Ensure 24/7 SOC service delivery with balanced capacity.
