Primary Objective of Position:
The IT Officer is responsible for overseeing daily IT operations, managing technical staff, and ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the organization’s information systems. This role bridges the gap between management and technical teams—supervising IT activities, implementing policies, and coordinating technology initiatives that support business goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. IT Operations and Support Management
Supervise and coordinate day-to-day IT support activities and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
Oversee installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network systems.
Monitor system performance and ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
2. Staff Supervision and Development
Lead and mentor IT staff to ensure productivity, teamwork, and professional growth.
Assign and monitor tasks, evaluate performance, and provide technical guidance.
Conduct regular meetings with IT staff to review goals, priorities, and ongoing issues.
3. System and Network Administration
Manage and maintain servers, networks, security systems, and backups.
Oversee configuration and updates of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
Ensure compliance with data protection and cybersecurity policies.
4. Policy Implementation and Documentation
Enforce IT policies, procedures, and security standards established by management.
Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, network diagrams, and asset inventories.
Ensure proper software licensing and adherence to company IT protocols.
5. Project Coordination
Assist in planning and executing IT-related projects such as system upgrades, migrations, or ERP implementation.
Coordinate with vendors or service providers for technical support and procurement.
Monitor project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure completion on schedule.
6. User Support and Communication
Provide second-level support for complex technical issues escalated by IT staff.
Communicate effectively with other departments to understand their IT needs and propose solutions.
Conduct training or orientation sessions for employees on new systems or technologies.
