Job summary

Coherent Philippines Pte Ltd is seeking a senior IQA/SQE professional to lead incoming quality assurance and supplier quality activities. You will review specs, perform root-cause investigations, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and drive improvements in inspection and supplier processes.

The role requires 5+ years in electronics/semiconductor, expertise in 8D/5 Why/FMEA, and strong data analytics with Power BI.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electronics or equivalent with 5+ years in semiconductor/electronics/optoelectronics.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and QMS requirements.
  • Experience in supplier audits and corrective-action management.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and quality requirements.
  • Data-driven thinking with attention to detail and decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily IQA activities and ensure timely inspection and disposition of incoming materials.
  • Review material specs, drawings, inspection standards, sampling plans, and supplier docs.
  • Analyze defects, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead investigations of supplier nonconformities using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone and root-cause methods.
  • Issue, monitor, and verify effectiveness of Supplier Corrective Action Requests.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, Purchasing, Engineering, Warehouse, Production, and Quality teams to resolve issues.
  • Support supplier qualification, new material approval, first article inspection, and process-validation activities.
  • Participate in supplier audits and evaluate process controls, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and inspection systems.
  • Monitor supplier performance using DPPM, rejection rate, responsiveness, and corrective-action effectiveness.
  • Recommend containment, sorting, rework, return, replacement, or acceptance based on risk assessment.
  • Review and approve inspection results, supplier reports, deviation requests, and dispositions.
  • Develop and improve incoming inspection procedures, checklists, sampling plans, and quality records.
  • Support risk-based inspection methods and skip inspections based on historical data.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects to reduce defects, inspection effort and cost of poor quality.
  • Prepare regular IQA and supplier performance reports with trends and actions.
  • Provide training to inspectors and production personnel; ensure QMS compliance.
  • Escalate significant supplier-quality issues to the Quality Manager with recommended actions.

  • Lead or support continuous‑improvement projects to reduce incoming defects, inspection effort, material waste, and cost of poor quality.
  • Prepare regular reports on IQA and supplier performance, including trends, risks, and improvement actions.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to inspectors, and relevant production personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable quality‑management‑system standards.
  • Escalate significant or recurring supplier‑quality issues to the Quality Manager and recommend appropriate action.
Education & Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering or its equivalents with at least 5 years of relevant work experience semiconductor or electronics / optoelectronics industry.
Skills
  • Knowledge of Incoming Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Engineering processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection standards, and quality requirements.
  • Proficiency in quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, and CAPA.
  • Experience in supplier evaluation, supplier audits, and corrective‑action management.
  • Ability to analyze quality data, rejection trends, DPPM, and supplier performance.
  • Knowledge of sampling plans and risk‑based inspection methods.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality‑management‑system requirements.
  • Proficiency in developing Quality Dashboards using Microsoft Power BI is a strong advantage.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills with suppliers and cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, presentations, and quality documentation.
  • Knowledge of statistical or quality tools such as JMP, Minitab, or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Demonstrates keen attention to detail, data‑driven thinking, and effective decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to lead improvement projects and manage multiple priorities.
