A) Position Objective
The position is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Underwriter. The Underwriting Assistant assists underwriters in evaluating and assessing the risks associated with insurance applications, helping to make informed decisions. Conducts policy audits to ensure that all issued policies follow the underwriting guidelines.
B) Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide immediate assistance to the Underwriter through the initial assessment of risk, CAT exposure, accumulation, and preparation of quotations/proposals.
- Conduct initial reviews of new and renewal policies to help the Underwriter decide whether there will be adjustments to the premium or if still eligible for renewal.
- Generate and prepare reports and other statistical reports.
- Post-audit the policies issued by branches to ensure that underwriting guidelines are followed and report to the Underwriter any violations made.
- Provide immediate assistance to IPPS by checking issued policies to ensure that all issued Fire/Property and Engineering Lines are in accordance with the proposed terms and that all warranties and clauses are properly applied.
- Perform other tasks that the Underwriter may assign from time to time.
C) Minimum Job Requirements
- Education: Graduate of any 4-year business course.
- Work-Related Experience:
- At least 1 year of related work experience.
- Preferably with non-life insurance background.
- Experience in dealing with customers and clients.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with people.
- Specific Business Knowledge:
- Computer literate and well-versed in MS Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work under pressure with good analytical skills.
