Job summary

BDO Unibank, Inc. is seeking an Industry Research Officer to analyze banking-industry data from bank financial statements and regulatory bodies to determine trends and BDO’s position.

Reporting to the Head of Industry Research, this role supports Investor Relations, internal analysis, and strategic decision-making by providing timely, accurate industry insights.

Onsite work in Makati or Ortigas is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree relevant to the job preferably Finance or Accounting.
• At least three (3) years of experience in research, finance and/or management accounting preferably gained from a bank or other financial institutions.
• Must be amenable to working onsite and be assigned to Makati or Ortigas.

Responsibilities

• Collate and analyze bank financial statements and regulatory data to identify industry trends.
• Compare BDO's performance to peers and industry benchmarks.
• Prepare industry reports for the Board and Investor Relations.
• Compile data across units and verify accuracy.
• Develop market valuation analyses for the Bank vs peers.
• Aggregate branch and ATM network data and industry rankings.
• Prepare presentations for annual meetings and BSP visits.
• Support IR in addressing analyst and investor queries.
• Execute other related tasks as assigned.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of Industry Research, the Industry Research Officer is responsible for analyzing and providing banking industry data based on banks’ financial statements and data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and other regulatory bodies to determine industry trends, BDO’s industry position and performance vis‑à‑vis peer banks. The analysis and data produced will serve as inputs for use by the Investor Relations function, internal competitive analysis, and other needs of the Group.

Key responsibilities

• Manage collation and analysis of financial statements from banks' quarterly/annual SEC reports, as well as additional information from other banks, brokers' reports, press releases and other sources to evaluate industry trends and BDO's performance versus its peers and the rest of the industry


• Manage preparation and analysis of comparative market valuation of the Bank versus peer banks


• Oversee compilation of published statements of condition of universal and commercial banks as well as non-financial information (e.g. number of branches) from other sources to determine BDO's industry ranking in terms of key balance sheet accounts, branch and ATM Network


• Prepare industry reports for presentation to the Board of Directors and Mancom, as well as for posting to the Bank's website


• Collate data from various units to get all the information requirements and verify accuracy of data


• Compile data for the BDO Info Sheet for dissemination to banking analysts and internal recipients


• Prepare presentation materials for the annual officers meeting, annual stockholders meeting, BSP visitation and inputs for investor meetings as necessary


• Analyze data/information obtained from other units of the Bank and provide inputs to the Investor Relations Unit to address queries of analysts, investors, rating agencies and other parties


• Perform other related functions that may be assigned from time to time
