Job summary

BDO Unibank, Inc. in the Philippines is seeking an Industry Research Officer to analyze banking industry data collected from financial statements and regulatory bodies to determine industry trends and BDO’s position relative to peers. The role supports Investor Relations and internal competitive analysis.

Reporting to the Head of Industry Research, you will prepare industry reports for the Board and Mancom, enable BSP data inputs, and assist in responding to analyst and investor inquiries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree relevant to the job preferably Finance or Accounting.
• At least three (3) years of experience in research, finance and/or management accounting, preferably gained from a bank or other financial institutions.
• Must be amenable to working onsite and be assigned to Makati or Ortigas.

Responsibilities

• Periodic Analysis of the Performance of BDO vs Peer Banks and the Rest of the Industry: Manages collation and analysis of financial statements from banks’ quarterly/annual SEC reports, as well as additional information from other banks, brokers’ reports, press releases and other sources to evaluate industry trends and BDO’s performance versus its peers and the rest of the industry.
• Preparation of industry reports for presentation to the Board of Directors and Mancom, as well as for posting to the Bank’s website.
• IR Support and Other Functions: Prepares presentation materials for the annual officers meeting, annual stockholders meeting, BSP visitation and inputs for investor meetings as necessary.
• Analyzes data/information obtained from other units of the Bank and provides inputs to the Investor Relations Unit to address queries of analysts, investors, rating agencies and other parties.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of Industry Research, the Industry Research Officer is responsible for analyzing and providing banking industry data based on banks’ financial statements and data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and other regulatory bodies to determine industry trends, BDO’s industry position and performance vis‑à‑vis peer banks. The analysis and data produced will serve as inputs for use by the Investor Relations function, internal competitive analysis, and other needs of the Group.

Key Responsibilities:

Periodic Analysis of the Performance of BDO vs Peer Banks and the Rest of the Industry

• Manages collation and analysis of financial statements from banks’ quarterly/annual SEC reports, as well as additional information from other banks, brokers’ reports, press releases and other sources to evaluate industry trends and BDO’s performance versus its peers and the rest of the industry.
• Manages preparation and analysis of comparative market valuation of the Bank versus peer banks.
• Oversees compilation of published statements of condition of universal and commercial banks as well as non-financial information (e.g. number of branches) from other sources to determine BDO’s industry ranking in terms of key balance sheet accounts, branch and ATM Network.
• Preparation of industry reports for presentation to the Board of Directors and Mancom, as well as for posting to the Bank’s website.

BDO Info Sheet and Internal Template

• Collation of data from various units to get all the information requirements and verifies accuracy of data.
• Compilation of data for the BDO Info Sheet for dissemination to banking analysts and internal recipients.

IR Support and Other Functions

• Prepares presentation materials for the annual officers meeting, annual stockholders meeting, BSP visitation and inputs for investor meetings as necessary.
• Analyzes data/information obtained from other units of the Bank and provides inputs to the Investor Relations Unit to address queries of analysts, investors, rating agencies and other parties.
• Performs other related functions that may be assigned from time to time.
